For Springville High School's graduating class of 1950, the Springville Museum Mu-seum of Art holds many nostalgic memories. On June 15, the museum hosted Springville High School's 55th class reunion, Class of 1950. The excitement excite-ment shone from the faces of eager friends to see one another again after 50 years. Marking the end of World War II, 1950 was a peaceful time. Harry Truman Tru-man was President of the United States and a loaf of bread was only 14 cents. In addition to the simple life, Rock 'n Roll greats such as Elvis Presley and Buddy Holly were beginning to flood the air waves. The night began with old friends sharing hugs and laughter as they browsed the annual Spring Salon art show. The group toured the museum with Associate Curator Cu-rator Ruth Allred. During the tour, many remembered remem-bered the classes that were held for high school students stu-dents in the museum. "We had drama classes and art classes right here in these rooms", said Dorothy Clark Miner. After the tour, the classmates class-mates gathered for a group photo, where they had the opportunity to pass their old high school stage, which is now a library. During the previous article we discussed the benefits of high intensity exercise, in particular, high intensity aerobic aer-obic exercises such as sprinting, sprint-ing, power cycling, cy-cling, etc. Is it possible that too much exercise exer-cise of any kind can do more harm than good? Though the answer an-swer to this question should be ' obvious, both the amateur ama-teur and the professional can easily tall in the trap of overtraining. Overtraining occurs when we give our body more stress or exercise than it can handle; or when stress and physical trauma occur faster than the body can repair the damage. When overtraining occurs, your performance decreases, and injuries are more likely. The athlete will actually digress in his or her abilities if overtraining continues. con-tinues. At present, there are no specific tests that can be performed per-formed to determine if someone some-one is overtrained, but there are several different signs and symptoms that show up in someone who is continually continual-ly pushing themselves too hard. A few of these signs include in-clude the following: elevated resting heart rate, frequent minor infections, feeling of exhaustion, appetite loss, delayed de-layed recovery from exercise, exer-cise, decreased performance, apathy or no motivation, M Us CONVERGYS QuUlunkin$ Outdoing. It is also important to remember re-member that overtraining doesn't happen overnight. It is the result of reg ular physical stress that the body cannot recover re-cover from over a period of time. So, if you are experiencing experi-encing more than a couple of the above symptoms, or feel totally exhausted ex-hausted and unmotivated un-motivated in all areas ar-eas of your life, take a look at the intensity of your workouts. You might need to make some changes. If you think you suffer from overtraining, it may be a good idea to take a rest or do a lighter form of exercise. It is important to remember that exercise breaks the body down, and only during rest does your body become stronger and healthier. It is better to prevent overtraining over-training than to fix the problem. prob-lem. With this in mind, always al-ways try to monitor how you feel. If you feel tired (even before starting your workout), work-out), it is probably a good idea to take a rest or take it easy. Avoid performing the same exercise regimen time after time. Variations in your exercise regimen will also help your body to recuperate. recuper-ate. Try to remove as much stress from your life. The body sees all types of stress the same, be it too much exercise, ex-ercise, bad nutrition, lack of sleep, mental or emotional stress. All these stressors will add up and begin to take atoll. After a good rest, your body will thank you.
