This past Thursday evening, first grade students at Westside Elementary shared the joy of learning to read in their program pro-gram titled "A Book Is a Magic Carpet." Through music and rhyme, they told the tales of many favorite books and authors. We reminisced with Dr. Seuss, Frog and Toad, and Clifford, and joined the teddy bears on their picnic. We saw in "Chicka chicka boom boom" there was certainly not enough room for all of the letters at the top of the coconut tree. This fast-paced, energetic program was enthusiastically enthusiastical-ly received by students, parents and faculty members who filled the auditorium for both the morning and evening performances.
