Gard-ner. Gardner is the son of Dee and Terri Gardner and the third of seven children. In high school, he has served as senior class officer, offi-cer, co-captain of the crosscountry cross-country and track teams, See Valeditorian on page 13 Springville High School is proud to present its salutorian, salutori-an, Rachel Haab. Haab is the daughter of Dan and Sherri Haab. She was born in Salt Lake City and has lived in Utah her entire life. She is the oldest of three children, with a sister who is a sophomore sopho-more and a brother who is in The Springville High School Baseball Team won their two home games in the state tournament last week to earn a berth in the state tournament quarterfinals at BYU. The semi-finals and finals fi-nals are on Thursday and Friday of this week. The Red Devils entered the tournament being favored by many to win the state title because of the top pitching staff in the state. But several media sources felt that Springville could be vulnerable vulnera-ble offensively. Springville's hitters responded to the challenge chal-lenge by hitting for .412 average av-erage in the first two games with 11 extra base hits leading lead-ing to 18 runs. SHS vs. Logan After delaying this game for two days due to rain, the Grizzlies from Logan found themselves in a hole early when Scott Pickering led off the game with a double and eventually scored on a ground out. Two innings later, the Devils Dev-ils loaded the bases when Matt McCoy hit a blast to left field for his 2nd home run of the year. This one, a grand slam, increased the lead to 5-0. 5-0. Brian Bulow singled and scored on a Trevor Graves triple and the route was on. Even though Logan managed man-aged three runs in the game (2 earned), Bulow earned the victory making his record 7-0 7-0 for the season. The Devils beat Logan at home in the State Playoffs last Thursday and went on to Crush Mt. View on Saturday. The Springville High School Swim Team had their Awards Banquet on Wednesday, May 11. Both the Boys and Girls teams took the Region Title and 20 swimmers qualified to compete at state. The following swimmers swim-mers earned their letter in swimming this year: Dan Box, Eric Buzbee, Mike Buzbee, Julie Call, Tim Call, Kim Clark, Sarah Clark, Taylor Cooper, Cam Crocket, Ryan Lamb, Drew MacDonald, Daniel Simmons, Tyson Stark, Danika Tate, Bryant Taylor, Christine Vaughn, Katrina Walser, Kristal Williams and Mindy Workman Port .
