This is the night that individual achievement, achieve-ment, on and off the field, are recognized and commended. A large variety of awards were given that night. Many received awards for outstanding outstand-ing performances in soloing. Others received awards for their diligence and hard work in being the best they could be. On Tuesday the 4th, Lone Peak traveled to Springville High School to compete against the Lady Red Devils, t was a tough competition, and SHS finally won by five points in over time. It was close, but Springville once again prevailed. pre-vailed. Only two days after the intense in-tense game, the team drove down to Lehi for another game. Springville was down Baclwards "PROM" lots of ftm for students Friday, Jan. 7, Springville High School's Dance Company Compa-ny held the annual MORP dance. For those of you who do not know what MORP stands for, here is the basic run down. MORP is backwards back-wards prom. It is when a young lady asks a young man of her choice to accompany her to a dress-up dance without all the experience of being in the marching band. The awards night is a monument monu-ment to how much our teachers teach-ers and friends truly appreciate appreci-ate us. It was a night that showed that no one is overlooked over-looked or forgotten. It was a night that would be remembered remem-bered by all who experienced it for years to come. The dance's theme was "Famous Couples." By the night's end, princesses, monsters mon-sters and superheroes were on display throughout the G-wing G-wing gym. A fun time was had by all who attended the dance. "MORP was creative, well-planned well-planned out and an over-all great time," said Candice Sowards, a junior at SHS. This was certainly true of the dance, but half the creativity cre-ativity from the night came from the students who attended at-tended the dance as wacky famous couples. "MORP was one of the funniest fun-niest dances I have ever been to," Kris Haderlie says. At Springville High School they are known as the interns; at their work places they are known as devoted de-voted workers. Cody Byrne interns for the Stonecutter restaurant. He has worked there for just over a year and a half and has been a manager for a year. Throughout his time at Stonecutter he has learned the history of the business, learned how to work with and manage other people, and he has learned a lot about what career he would truly like to pursue in the future. fu-ture. Cody has a great attitude about his internship and it helps him to enjoy out a great work experience. Cody Byrne Cody said this about his job, "We like to have a lot of fun while we work. We come together to-gether for excellent service. Everyone agrees that this is the best job they have ever had." Katie Jensen works for Peak Physical Therapy in Spanish Fork. She first became be-came interested in this career ca-reer when she was involved in a drill team accident in the 2003-2004 school year. She was treated at Peak Physical Therapy and truly liked the environment. Katie has learned how to help the clients with anything from checking in to the actual rehab. re-hab. Katie has also had the chance to work with many people that she knows because be-cause of the area the nature of the business and the location loca-tion of the office. "I am getting get-ting a feel of what it would be like to be a Physical Therapist. Ther-apist. I believe this is definitely definite-ly a possible career for me," Katie Jensen r"" ' -"I I i. Even knowing how much of a challenge tne children chil-dren can be, she absolutely loves working and teaching ' the kids everyday. Melanie : has learned many things as , she has begun interning for Kids Count. She has learned patience, responsibility and initiative. Melanie has realized that in order to keep learning and ' teaching, she must listen and . watch the surrounding peo- 4 pie to get her own ideas. She said "I go in there to teach, but come out also have been taught." Melanie hopes to pursue this career in education educa-tion and hopes to continue -t Melanie Loveless working with the childrea Devan Morriss has been working at Teleperf ormance USA for over a year. He possesses pos-sesses a management position posi-tion and is in charge or his own group of people. His job consists or educating and motivating mo-tivating his workers, as well as completing all of the paperwork paper-work tor his section. Devan must always help his workers with everything that they need help with. In this career, you must do well everyday. It seems as though everyday you start over and what you did yesterday is almost irrelevant irrele-vant to what will be accomplished accom-plished the next day. Devan has learned the benefit ben-efit of motivation and rewards. re-wards. He has learned that attitude is an extremely important im-portant part of the job because be-cause his attitude reflects and influences everyone else around him. "It is my responsibility respon-sibility to make sure every rep is accounted for, does their job effectively, and that everything runs smoothly," he said.
