McDonald's McDonal-d's restaurants in more than 100 countries will host an unprecedented unprece-dented simultaneous fundraiser for children in their communities called World Children's Day. In the U.S., all funds raised from World Children's Day at McDonald's will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities, dedicated to directly improving the health and well being of children around the world. One dollar from the sale of every Egg McMuffin, Big Mac sandwich, Happy Meal and Mighty Kids Meal will be donated to Ronald McDonald House. Current plans at McDonald's restaurants in the Intermountain McDonald's Cooperative Association Associ-ation include donations on product prod-uct sales, "Give a Hand" sales, celebrity appearances and programs pro-grams with local schools to support sup-port the Ronald McDonald House Charities in the Intermountain West. Locally, RMHC also provides grants to numerous non-profit organizations organiza-tions that improve the lives of children and on Nov. 20, the charity will announce a new minority Ronald McDonald House Charities scholarship program through the University of Utah providing multiple schol-arships schol-arships for Hispanic, AsianPacific and African American Ameri-can students. Nicholas Greg Thorpe, son of Greg and Laura Thorpe of Springville, celebrated bis first birthday November 9, 2002.
