Simians PAT failed. SPORTS Tips foo safe hunt Autumn brings hunters to the field, one of the most popular recreation activities on National Forest System lands. Uinta National Na-tional Forest officials remind hunters to keep in mind the following fol-lowing information for-a safe and enjoyable hunt. Campgrounds-Most campgrounds camp-grounds and picnic areas will remain open throughout the hunts. Weather conditions may force the closure of some campgrounds camp-grounds and some water systems may be turned off. Contact Forest For-est Service offices for the most current campground information. Road Conditions-Hunters are urged to use caution when traveling, travel-ing, especially during inclement weather. Hunters should contact local Forest Service offices to obtain current road information and travel maps. Maps showing recreational vehicle opportunities may be purchased at all local Forest Service offices. Users are advised to travel only on those routes marked open, or shown as open, on a travel map. Questions regarding re-garding motorized vehicle use on specific roads or trails should be . directed to a local Forest Service office. Entrance Fee-The fee program pro-gram for the American Fork Canyon-Alpine Loop area will be in effect throughout the hunt. A $3, 3-day pass; $10, 14-day pass; or $25, an annual pass may be purchased at local Forest Service offices, and the American Fork Canyon and Aspen Grove entrance en-trance stations. A pass entitles visitors to utilize parking, picnicking pic-nicking facilities and trailheads. Visitors using State Route 92 for through travel only do not require re-quire a pass. Safety-Wear protective hunter orange attire and exercise extreme ex-treme caution while hunting. Make sure someone knows where you are going and when you w&l return. Be prepared for inclement weather by taking the proper clothing and equipment. Leave No Trace-Practicing Leave No Trace principles minimizes mini-mizes the impact to National Forest System lands. These principles prin-ciples include: Stay on designated trails and roads; Use designated campsites; Select campsites 200 feet or more from water sources and wet meadows; Dig catholes 200 feet or more from camp, trails and streams; Pack it in. Pack it out; Bring pellets, grain or weed-free hay for horses; and Remove excess hay and straw. Firewood Uinta National Forest officials will offer firewood permits this year within the Nebo Mountain .area. Personal use, permits will be required for firewood collection and can be obtained at the Spanish Span-ish Fork Ranger District office on Saturday, Oct. 12, beginning at 8 a.m. Permit sales will continue con-tinue until all 100 permits have been sold. One permit per adult (18 years of age and older) will be sold on a first come, first served basis. The cost of the permit will be $20 and only cash will be accepted. The permit authorizes the removal of two cords of wood. Payson Lakes and Black-hawk Black-hawk campgrounds are the only campgrounds that will be open for the removal of firewood. Wood available for removal includes only downed, dead timber within the campgrounds, and standing and downed timber at all other locations. A map identifying the areas where dead timber may be removed will be provided with the permit. Wood may be removed beginning Saturday, Satur-day, Oct. 12, through Saturday, Nov. 30, (weather permitting). The Spanish Fork Ranger District office is located at 44 W. 400 North, Spanish Fork.
