Candri m Library Corner i i mm by Pat Bartlett Each Tuesday and Wednesday for one hour beginning at 10:30 a.m., the library is taken over by our littlest patrons as Mrs. Milius hosts our preschool story time. From infants to five year olds, these children and their parents or grandparents enjoy stories ranging from seasons, to buttons, from learning to dress yourself to having fun with ABC's. After hearing delightful stories and participating in simple games, Mrs. Milius has a craft for them to do, while moms look for books to take home or simply chat a few minutes with other moms. It is a great experience for these young patrons and helps them to learn the importance and joy that comes from using the library. Sometimes it gets a bit hectic and a little noisy while the children chil-dren are in the library, but for the most part, they are good little patrons and are learning helpful social and educational skills. - For you patrons who are older J and may not wish to have this fuss during your time at the library, just wait until after 1 1 :30 Tuesday and Wednesday to come in and visit us. But, if you don't mind a little noise and lots of energy, it is a fun time for everyone every-one to watch these little ones as they learn new things and make new friends at the library. The Springville Library now has novels and non-fiction books in Spanish on the shelves. We are building our Spanish language collection and are getting more in each day. Children's books in Spanish are not yet available, but should be coming in soon. We would like to thank Doug Strong for keeping the library tidy and clean. We have a reputation reputa-tion for being a great library, and one of the reasons is that it is clean and inviting for our patrons. pa-trons. Thanks Doug! Anyone can carry his burden, however heavy, until nightfall; anyone can do his work, however hard, for one day. Barton will sing "Speaking French," and Mariah Cooley will perform "Bibi, Bidi, Bom, Bom" from Mexico. There will be several instrumental instru-mental pieces including Sharon Averett and Jake Coleman on classical guitar and Jenny Augustus Augus-tus on piano. Two dance numbers, num-bers, a rhumba and a Viennese waltz, will also be performed. Allen Lowe and Bryce Mortimer Morti-mer will sing "Put on Your Sunday Sun-day Clothes," and a boys group will present the Beach Boys hit, "California Girls." A trio, Staci Smith, Erin Vose and Catie Lutz, will sing the delightful Gilbert and Sullivan "Three Little Maids." The program will vary slightly on the two nights with some soloists only performing on one of the nights. Soloists on the second night include Jenny 01-sen. 01-sen. Shelly Babbitt and Sarah Jerome. Jenny Lowe, who assisted in putting the program together this year, promises it will be a great show. "The music will be wonderful won-derful and the students performing perform-ing have been delightful to work with. And, we have the cutest tickets ever," she said. The tickets, designed as passports, pass-ports, are $15 each and available from any SHS choir student or by calling Tammy Coleman at 489-7845. 489-7845. The dinner show, an elegant ele-gant affair, is the annual fundraiser fund-raiser for the choirs. All proceeds from the event will help cover costs for the choirs tour and activities. Debbie Augustus serves as accompanist for the choir. Tanner Helland will also accompany several numbers. Debbie Puckett serves as the groups' choreographer. The choirs are under the direction of Leanna Crockett. For an enjoyable evening, fine food and excellent entertainment, plan to attend "Around the Work in 80 Days." Art Museum to bo honored for overall performance Nineteen museums in Utah will be recognized for the overall excellence of their operations on Thursday, including the Springville Spring-ville Museum of Art. Each of those museums will receive certification awards for meeting the state's performance goals for museums. With Governor Gover-nor Mike Leavitt in attendance, the presentation will occur at a 1:30 p.m. ceremony during Museum Day, Thur., Jan. 25, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Capitol Rotunda. Some forty museums will have displays and exhibits at the Capitol that day. The performance goals are aimed at helping "raise the professional pro-fessional level of Utah museums even more," said Dan Burke, director, Office of Museum Services in the Utah Division of Community Development. The goals help museum operators evaluate their facilities' technical and financial operations to see where improvements can be made to provide the most educational and rewarding experience for visitors. Museums are important to the state's tourism and local economies, econo-mies, particularly in rural areas. "Museums draw more than four million visitors annually, many being tourists traveling in Utah," said Burke. "Also included in museum visitor statistics are some half-million students for whom museum provide an educational educa-tional experience that can only stimulate and enhance what is learned in the classroom."
