SHS pulled within five at the half, 37-32. Brian Oakey started a big second half roll for SHS, scoring the first two points. Junior Paul Miner saw a lot of action handling the ball and helping to shut down the Cedar, four corners type offense that has the point guard driving inside against a man-to-man defense. Miner also contributed a three pointer to cut' Cedar's lead to 62-58. Oakey, Nyman, Oman and Andy Croshawwere able to put together consistent play at both ends of the floor to finally tie the game at 62, when Oakey scored. SHS took the lead at 64-62, but Cedar made two from the foul line to tie it. From that point, it was all Springville. SHS scored again and time was called. Coach Bake called for four points. Promptly, Andy Croshaw was spotted open inside by Oman, and Croshaw made it 68-64. Oakey forced a Cedar turnover with a blocked shot. Oakey scored two from the foul line, 70-64. Oakey stole the ball, was fouled, as he brought the fans to their feet by hanging on the rim. He made it 72-64. Jerry Jordan brought down a defensive rebound, and the fans went into a "Hey, Hey, Goodbye Dixie" chant. Cedar scored a three pointer with seconds left to make it 72-67. With one second left, Oakey wrote "Goodbye" on the cake with two more of his 29 points, from the foul line.
