Show What's happening at the Junior High? The Springville Herald - February 1, 19M - Page Nine February brings hearts, flowers chocolates and confessions of secret crushes. At the Junior High, we have real sweethearts, budding geniuses candy machines and love notes every day of the school year. For us February means Valentine's Day and its inherent blessings, but it also means motivational assemblies classes, homework, tests and planning for future education. Monday brought Dan Clark, a speajter who expressed the importance im-portance of imagination and the power it gives our potential. If his ideas were incorporated into the psyches of our students, they will be more serious about their classes, responsible when doing their homework and successful when taking their tests. With this impetus, the plans they make on the 16th of February should become a reality. On the 16th of this month classes will not be held, however it is a day of school and each student is Squired to meet with his or her 1st Period teacher to work on the schedule of cfasses for the remaining high school years. Parents are invited to attend with their children if at alt possible. Appointments will be made with teachers so please make your children ware of the time you'd be free to come with them. More information in-formation will be sent home with the students. Other February activities include a Valentine's dance on the 9th from 7-9:30 p.m. Students should come in their best dress. The 14th of February will find students on stage as they present a special "affects" assembly on the stages of love in our lives. A performance for parents is planned but the date has not been finalized. We'll let you know next week. One might say the assemblies here have gone to the birds. Last week was no exception as the kids learned about falconry. Sandy Smith, a 9th grader whose credibility is beyond doubt, gave the assembly a positive review. "It was really good!" she said. The United States Achievement Academy announced that James Logan Ahlstrom, a student at the Springville Jr. High, has been named a 1984 United States National Award winner in science. James is the son of Jonell Ahlstrom. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Killion of Springville. He was nominated for this award by his science teacher, Mrs. Oler.
