Daughters of Utah Pioneers meet Camp Mountain View Daughters of Utah Pioneers meeting was held May 14, at the home of Trysa Loback. The meeting was conducted by captain Nora Jacobus, , : and the pledge to the flag 1VV ...-- 1A K.. Un-.l Roylance. Lorus Hayes read the words of the song 'Just Twenty Years Ago,' and directed the song, 'Sunshine in the Soul.' A History of Thomas Crowther was given by Mrs. Hayes, and an in teresting lesson was given on pioneer dancing by Minnie Groesbeck. We note the prophet Joseph Smith encouraged dancing dan-cing and music. Dancing was part of pioneer culture. Amusing and interesting stories were told about these activities. ac-tivities. Lawrence Johnson played music on the saw after which refreshment were served by hostess Trysa Loback, Catherine Russell, Maraby Beardall and Dora Pepper. Camp Calico DUP Camp DUP meets Cottonwood Robert Murry, Angela Underwood Couple to settle in Springville after Temple rite Marie H. Stauder and Eldon E. Lamkin, of Michigan, announce the engagement and forthcoming forthcom-ing marriage of their daughter Angela Underwood, to Robert J. Murry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd A. Murry, of Sandy, May 23, in the Salt Lake Temple. A reception will be held in their honor the evening of May 23, in the Granite Stake Center in Sandy, and May 30, in the home of the bride's parents in Milan, Mich. The couple plan to make their home in Springville. Spr-ingville. The bride-to-be is a former "Miss Teen Michigan," and a national baton twirling champion. She was "Miss Majorette of Michigan," and first runner-up to "The Majorette Queen of America." She has received over 400 awards for competitive modeling model-ing and baton twirling. Last summer she traveled to Louiseville, Ky., to judge the "Miss North America" pageant. The prospective groom is a junior at BYU majoring major-ing in electrical engineering. He is currently employed at Signetics in Orem as a computer technician. techni-cian. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Sacramento, Calif. 80th birthday celebration The children of Vic Grove. His children are: Frandsen will be Glenn Frandsen, Far-honoring Far-honoring their father with mington; Lee Frandsen, a celebration of his 80th birthday on Monday, May Upland, Calif.; and Ann 25, with a party in Kelly's Youngberg, Grantsville. The Camp Calico Daughters of Utah Pioneers met in the home of daughter Ivy Carr, May 13. Captain Dorothy Damico was in charge and conducted the meeting. The prayer was offered by Chaplain Rhoda Hales. A salute to the flag was led by Parliamentarian Vilate Reynolds. The hymn, "Have I Done Any Good In the World Today," was led by chorister Garnetta Dotson. Minutes were read by Secretary Emogene Brainsford, and approved by the members. Announcements An-nouncements were made by Captain Dorothy Damico. She reported on the meeting in Spanish Fork and the dedication of the monument in North Park. History was given by daughter Emogene Brailsford on the life of Lelancia Jane Drolinger and John Harvey Moore. Great - Great - Grandparents Grand-parents of Emogene. A lesson in pioneer dancing was given by daughter Dorothy Damico with the help of daughter Olive Porter, Matilda Nielson,Lorena. Cutler, James, Kirkham,; Garnetta DoUon-Dancing DoUon-Dancing in Minersville. Hostesses were Ivy Carr, Garnetta Dotson. This is the last meeting until fall. Camp Cottonwood Daughters of the Utah Pioneers meeting was held at Grace Mar-tindale's Mar-tindale's home. Captain Afton Merrill conducted the meeting. She thanked the past hostess and all others who made this year a success. Prayer was offered by chaplain Grace Mar-tindale, Mar-tindale, pledge of allegiance was led by Freda Stuepick. Arlene Lewis led the singing of "When You and I Were Young Maggie". She also read a history of her husband's great grandfather, Samuel Lewis. The lesson leader, Ilene Coffman gave a most interesting lesson on Dancing. Afton wished the daughters a happy summer. Lilly Wheeler and Grace Martindale served as hostesses. VFW Post 5787 and the American Legion are getting together for a flag raising ceremony May 25 to : commemorate all veterans. The ceremony will begin at the Memorial Hall at 8 a.m., then move to the Springville Cemetery at 8:30, then to the Evergreen Cemetery at 9 a.m. The VFW District 4 Rifle Team will go to Provo City Cemetery, where they will be the honor guard for ceremonies held with the Provo City Veteran's Council. The honor guard will escort the Gold Star Mother of the Year to the Veteran's Memorial. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Provo City Cemetery.
