Most of my ideas come to me when I lie awake nights suffering from those awful guttural mumblings emerging from the the pillow next to mine. About the time I wrote my last column - a little more than a year ago - I was lying on my half of our king size, fighting insomnia, when I leaped out of bed declar ing, "I just thought of an idea for another column." "Hmmmmm, something else to embarrass me?" Jim muttered. I knew I'd been guilty of revealing most of our , faults, many of our secrets, and some things that just , shouldn't be told outside the four walls of our own home, but I didn't know the notoriety he was getting bothered him quite that much. Well, it did something to me and I stopped the col- umns. But now that I'm back at my desk at the Herald after an absence of a year and a half, I've had many requests re-quests to resume the column. Seems that more than a ; few of my common sex relate to the things I say - but . just haven't had the courage to say it themselves. I'll give it another whirl, and hope it doesn't turn . out like Roy Dunn's when his column "All Dunn" ap-, peared in The Herald. ; He came into my office one day to "chin" a little and laugh a little. He said, "I like your column," then told me of an experience he had after he stopped i writing his. ; One day a man came up to him in the bank offering. . compliments galore. "I like your column," he said. 'I especially enjoyed the one last week." It had been two years since one of Mr. Dunn's col-, umns had appeared in the paper.
