Devils out score By Craig Conover The mighty Springville Red Devils basketball team played an excellent first quarter against the Carbon Dinos, outscoring them 30-14. The Devils put on their scoring burst with about four minutes left when Felix stole the ball and went in for a lay-up but missed. He then turned around and stole the ball right back and fed it underneath to Whiting, who laid it in for two points. Bulow was next with a five-footer from the right side to put the Devils ahead 18-14. Whiting then stole the ball and gave it to Miner, who went in for two. Averett then got a steal of his own and put it through for two more. Weight then added a bucket and Whiting two more buckets and the Devils had a substantial lead to start the second quarter. The second quarter was a toss-up with each team scoring 16 points. Weight and Averett led the Devils with six each and Whiting came in with four more to add to his tally. So the Devils went to the locker room sitting on a comfortable com-fortable 16 point lead. The Devils lost a little of their momentum at the half and let down on defense and the Carbon Dinos came out and outscored them 11-4 in the first three minutes of play in the third quarter. The Devils then called a time out to slow things down a little, with only a nine point lead and the Dinos looking very good. This was all it took to ignite the Devils for the second time and Whiting hit on a five foot jump shot. Then Jenson of Carbon hit a 20-foot jump shot to counter, but then Weight and Averett hit on two consecutive occasions oc-casions and the last three minutes of the quarter, "The greatest thing in the world is to know how to be sufficient unto oneself."
