' More than 200 folk dancers from throughout the world will Kimberly Miner recently celebrated her first birthday. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lance Miner of Springville. Dr. Clayne Jensen, dean of the College of Physical Education at BYU, said that preparations are already under way for special staging and lighting effects in the Marriott Center, the nations largest college arena that seats 23,00 people. However, best view seating will be limited to 15,00. Tickets for the event are available at the Marriott Center ticket office for $3.50 below concourse level, $2.50 above concourse level, and a dollar discounts available for BYU activity card holders, high school students, and children. Planned as a major event of the BYU Centennial year the Festival will , include the BYU International Folk Dancers who will act as hosts, the Ensemble of. the Japanese Folklore Association, the Folk Dance Ensemble of the University of Marie Curie-Sklodowska in Lublin, Poland; the Haifa (Israel) Municipality Students Folk Dancing Group;' and the Polynesian Dance Ensemble of Laie, Hawaii. "We have had many requests from dance groups from all over the world who want to take part in the Festival-and these five were among the outstanding out-standing groups of each culture from the list," explained Mary Bee Jensen, director of the BYU International Folk Dancers. Events scheduled during the festivities are: R.O.A. approved rodeo, a summer musical, a mammoth parade, the United States Air Force Band, the City "of Fun Carnival, bake sales, sports activities and terrific sidewalk sale bargains. The U.S. Air Force Band will provide a free public concert at the city park on Wednesday, July 23rd at 6:00 p.m. A special bag pipe group of the Air Force band members will participate at the rodeo that same evening. The musical scheduled is "Funny Girl" with performances per-formances at 8:00 p.m. on July 22, 25 and 26th with a special matinee performance on July 24th at 2:00 p.m. The stock producer for the two day rodeo is Stevens Bros, of Idaho, who sent eleven animals to the national rodeo finals last year. Additional seating has been provided at the rodeo grounds for the comfort of those who attend. Colorful floats and bands will Seventh Annual Art Faire set . The Salt Lake Art Guild will present the Seventh Annual Art Faire on the State Capitol Plaza. Switched to the Capitol Plaza last year, the setting was found to be so beautiful a setting, that artists asked that we return again this year. Visitors to the State Capitol wfll not want to miss the variety of crafts, arts, and activities, available for their scrutiny and enjoyment. The festival will be held on August 2nd and 3rd from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. respectively. Last year over 5000 attended the art exhibits, craft demonstration demon-stration entertainment (including (in-cluding a German Band) and food booths offered to the public. An artistic program for the children to experience and participate in will keep the little ones busy while parents brouse. Puppet shows will also be given. 1 8:15 EVERY NIGHT , ! ! !
