Abraham Lincoln NOTICE OF UNLAWFUL ACTS AFFECTING IRRIGATION DITCHES AND WATER A number of yards and basements have been flooded this year. Some because refuse and debris "was discarded in ditches resulting in plugged culverts and screens. Others because water users did not tend their water during scheduled turns. Children have been allowed to play in ditches and, place obstructions in them to back up the water. Other persons have made unauthorized changes in headgates regulating the flow of water. It is against the law to discard refuse or debris of any kind in any ditch or watercourse, to place obstructions in any ditch or watercourse except authorized diversion devices, or to change or alter any headgate except when authorized. Also, water users are responsible for tending their water during all scheduled turns, and are liable for damages resulting re-sulting from their failure to do so. The cooperation of all citizens in obeying and uphold'ng the law is; necessary 'if damages to person and property are to be avoided and the irrigation of small plots throughout the city continued.
