Show OBITUARIES Glenn A. Wilson, drowning victim, paid glowing respects at funeral Glenn A. Wilson was paid final respects at impressive funeral services Tuesday in the Second-Eight Second-Eight Ward with Bishop Marshall Mar-shall Fox officiating. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery directed by Wheeler Mortuary. Mr. Wilson was the victim of drowning in the Spanish Fork River Saturday, July 4, 1970 when he and two friends were tubing in the river about six Glenn A. Wilson Services Friday in Price for LDS missionary Funeral services will be held in the Price Fourth Ward Friday morning at 11 a.m. for Michael Mercer Smith, 19, who was killed July 4, 1970 in Adelaide, Australia where he was serving a mission for the LDS Church. He was struck by a car while riding a bicycle. Elder Smith was the son of former Springville residents, Mr. and Mrs. John William SMith and the grandparents of elder Smith was the son of former Springville residents, Mr. and Mrs. John William Smith and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Smith. He had been in the mission field in Australia about three months. Friends may call at the Fausett Mortuary in Price this evening from 7 to 9 p.m. or one hour prior to the services. He was born January 3, 1951 in Provo, a son of John William and Arva May Mercer Smith. He graduated from Carbon High School and LDS Seminary and attended the College of Eastern Utah for one year. He attained the Life rank in the Boy Scouts and also was recipient of the Duty to God Award. Survivors include his parents, brother and sisters, Jon Craig, Shelley Miriam and Andrea, Price; grandparents, Mrs. Geneve Mercer, Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Smith, Springville. Former resident services held Funeral services were held Tuesday in Salt Lake City for David Nelson Beal, 42, who died July 4, 1970 in a Salt Lake hospital. Burial was in the Salt Lake Memorial Gardens of the Valley. He was born September 30, 1927 in Springville, the son of Nelson and Blanche Reese Beal. He married Norma Barton October 3, 1947 at Elko, Nevada. He was a member of the Utah Society of CPA; American Institute In-stitute of CPA and a member of the LDS Church. He was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his widow; sons, Michael, Dennis, Marc, all of Salt Lake City; a sister, Mrs. Rulon (Nedra) Fox, Salt Lake City. His tube reportedly hit a snag and he went under. The body was not found until about 5:30 a.m. Sunday after the water in the Spanish Fork River was turned out at the Strawberry Reservoir. It was retrieved about 500 yards downstream from where he went under. Members of the Utah County Jeep Patrol found the body after a search was launched laun-ched which involved approximately ap-proximately 250 people. Glenn Averett Wilson was born May 3, 1934 in Springville, a son of George G. and Leona Averett Wilson. He married Laura Nell Althouse on July 31, 1953 in the Manti LDS Temple. Mr. Wilson was employed by Safeway Company as a manager in the frozen food department. Active in the LDS Church, he was a counselor in the YMMIA and athletic director on a ward and stake level. He has coached and officiated softball and baseball in church competition and Little League and Pony League. He was Umpire in Chief of the Springville Colt League in 1967 and" had a'rso officiated In the Junior M Men DasketDan league and the Bantam League. He was a director of the Springville Seals swimming team and past vice president of that organization. Surviving are his widow of Springville; two sons and two daughters, Craig Glenn, Court, Kristy, and Kerry Lee Wilson, all of Springville; his mother of Springville; one brother and three sisters, Thomas G. Wilson of Provo; Mrs. Dean (Kathleen) Binks of Fontana, Calif.; Mrs. Jim (Patricia) Larsen of Mapleton; and Laurie Wilson of Springville; and three grandparents, grand-parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Averett and George W. Ashcraft Abbie Ashcraft dies at 90; services held Funeral services were held Friday in the Second Eighth Ward for Abbie Wordsworth Ashcraft, 90, who died July 1, 1970 in an Orem rest home of causes incident to age. Ralph Hitchcock of the Second Ward bishopric officiated. Burial was in the Springville City Cemetery directed by Wheeler Mortuary. She was born July 27, 1879 in Royal City, Lincoln County, Nevada, a daughter of John V. and Sarah Warren Wordsworth. She was married to Don Orean Ashcraft on March 29, 1899 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Ashcraft Ash-craft died in 1940. Mrs. Ashcraft was the first white child born in Royal City. She lived in that city for several years, then moved with her family to Springville. Following her marriage to Mr. Ashcraft, they lived in Midvale, Salt Lake Gty, Helper, Ogden, and several other cities where his work as a railroad engineer took him. During her early life she held many positions in the auxiliaries of the LDS Church. Surviving are four sons and a daughter, Lloyd Ashcraft and Mrs. Ernest (Donna) Whiting of Springville; Orean R. Ashcraft of Salt Lake City; Ruel R. Ashcraft Ash-craft of Kearns; and Eldon L. Ashcraft of Garden Grove, California; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and nine great -great -grandchildren. Arthur Hatch Wednesday rites held here for W. Arthur Hatch Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Springville Stake House for W. Arthur Hatch, 80, who died July 5, 1970 at the American Fork Hospital. Bishop Ben Killpack of the Seventh Ward officiated. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery directed by Wheeler Mortuary. He was born February 1, 1890 in Cannon ville, Utah a son of John Henry and Elizabeth Davis Hatch. He married Mary Ellen at on April 12, 1911 in Tropic, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mt Hatch was a retired baliff .in the district court. Active in the LDS Church, he served a two-year two-year mission in the southern states, and a two-year stake mission. He served in the Sunday Sun-day School superintendency and the bishopric of the Springville Seventh Ward, and in other church positions. Surviving are his widow of Springville; three sons and three daughters, Arthur Farrell Hatch of Mt.
