Tage Two The Springville Sundance opens theatre season I with two shows Sundance inaugurated its new -outdoor summer theatre the fore - part of last week with the , presentation of "Petticoats and Pettifoggers" with Buddy - Youngreen, producer-director v and Dee Winterton, associate producer. . ? Running on alternate nights at r. the new theatre is another ; musical comedy , "Butch and the - Kid." Both were written by Mr. Z Youngreen who is a BYU 7 graduate and presently an associate professor at the Pasadena Playhouse College of 1 Theatrical Arts. He has produced and directed over 40 Z major stage and television '- productions. Sundance, owned and operated by Actor Robert Redford and associates Stanley Collins, investment executive of ' Provo, and New York attorneys Robert Gottschalk and Michael ' FYankfurt, is primarily a skiing resort but the goal for the area is to develop a year-round cultural I' center. ' I "Within the next few years we ; 'envision expansion which will .'include the presentation of 'programs and festivals on -drama, music, and dance. "Seminars will also be held -dealing with the vital issues of '-the day, such as the current crises facing our environment" I -Mr. Redford stated. "It's a program that offers fun, participation, and a barnyard bar-nyard full of excitement for the entire family," says Ted Brinkerhoff, Western Fun Night chairman. "Besides that, "Brinkerhoff says, "those attending will have a chance on two ponies that we're giving away." As a special attraction, the nationally known fancy roper and trick rider, Bus Carson, will perform at the show. Bus Carson is being brought to the Freedom Festival activities through the courtesy of Carson Market in Provo. This year's program will feature precision performances by the American Fork Bridlettes and the Utah Barrel Association, plus cutting horse exhibitions. Other competitive events will include musical chairs for adults and children; barrels (open); calf roping (amateur and jackpot); jack-pot); key hole (open); dally team roping (open and jackpot ) ; pig scrambles for girls eight years and under, boys eight years and under, and boys and girls nine years old; pole bending ben-ding (open); and hide races. First, second, and third place trophies will be awarded for many of the events. Individuals wishing to participate par-ticipate must register at the Rodeo Grounds between 5:30 p.m. and starting time.
