I V Municipal Section Gives Fine Educational Program One of the week's prominent social and educational gatherings, was the session sponsored by the Municipal section of Women's Council, Monday afternoon at the club house. Mrs. T. C. Larsen was chairman on arrangementsShe was assisted by committee members Mrs. H. V. Smith, Mrs. Ralph E. Harshman, Mrs. Claudia Lewis, Mrs. Wil-ford Wil-ford Johnson and Mrs. Glen Mangleson. .Hostesses were Mrs. Claude Ashworth and Mrs. J. PI. Phillips. Mrs. G. L. Hobbs read the club collect. Accordian music- was furnished during the afternoon, by Lorenzo Demaxs. Readings were given by Joanna Hobbs. A debate, "Resolved that the Government Should Adopt a Policy of Free Medical. Care for Citizens" w,as presented by four nign acnooi coys: Eugene buck ner, Leslie Walker, Bob Mower and Jerry Anderson. The theme. "Yesterday and Today" was predominant throughout the room. Flowers, potted plants, a log cabin, covered cov-ered wagon with ox team and hand carts, were used in decoration. decora-tion. Lovely corsages- fashioned of red. white and blue sweet peas, were presented. to members and "guests present. Mexico and Japan Discussed at Meet Mrs. S. L. Atkins entertained for Lambda Tau members at the home of her mother, Mrs. T. A. Thurman, Monday evening. -Movies and souvenirs of. Mexico were shown by Carlos Taylor. Peay and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Bellows. f Three Wards Sponsor Dance A Centennial Ball was held Monday evening, Feb. 17th, for BecHive girls and Boy Scouts of the Park, University, and Fourth wards in the amusement hall of the Fourth ward. Sorority At Formal Dance Friday night, members of Utah Epsi Ion chapter, Delta Theta Chi, met at Sowiette Park amusement hall, where they entertained their partners at a smart formal Valentine Valen-tine ball. A large heart formed the entrance en-trance to the attractively decorated decorat-ed hall. Miss Dorothy Richmond, president presi-dent of the group, headed the receiving re-ceiving line. With her were Mrs. Harold Bunnell and Miss Alta Buckner, chairman of the evening. even-ing. Miss Buckner was assisted by Anna Del Bailey and Bernice Evans. Ev-ans. Music was furnished by a double-mixed trio during intermis sion. They sang sorority songs. Over 100 couples participated. Fashion Show Enjoyed at Club Members of the Nautilus Alumni were entertained Monday Mon-day evening at. their regular monthly meeting at the home of Mrs. Phyllis Humphrey, in Springville. Assisting Mrs. Humphrey were Mrs. Jackie Wade, Klara Snyder, Jane Rich-ins Rich-ins and Doramae Bintrham. A very tasty spring luncheon' was served after which a fashion show was presented. W. 'Nelson who became the bride of Gilbert Olsen, son of Mrs. Ole Olsen, all of Spanish Fork and Miss Clara Bradford, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Vincent and F6ss Nielsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Al-bert Nielsen, all of Spanish Fork. The young couples left Friday, Feb. 7 and returned home Febru ary 9. fdr$. Olsen is a graduate of the local high school and her husband hus-band Is a returned service-man. He served three years in the U. S. army with active duty in the Aleutians. The new Mrs. Nielsen is a stu dent at the Spanish Fork high school and her husband is a graduate grad-uate of that school. Open House For Mr. Wilson Many relatives' and friends cal led at the home of Mr. and Mrs Rulon B. Hansen, Sunday, to extend ex-tend good wishes to William Mercer Mer-cer Wilson, father of Mrs. Han sen, who celebrated his 82nd birthday, that day. ? During the afternoon, musical numbers were furnished- by Mrs. Ethel Wilson, Mr. and Mrs.. Barney Bar-ney Rawlings and Bob Booth. The house was tastefully dec orated with spring blossoms. The refreshments were in charge of Mrs. Jack Booth, Mrs. Rulon Han sen, Bonnie Wilson, Shirley Ann Wilson and Mrs. Dean Lewis. Hosts and hostesses for the oc casion were Mrs. Roy Helm, daughter-in-law of Mr. Wilson, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Rulon B. Hansen, Han-sen, Mrs. Jack Booth, Mrs. A. E. Rawlings and Bill W. Wilson. The guest of honor has 12 grandchildren grandchil-dren and 4 great-grandchildren. Mr. Wilson has been a resident of Provo for 60 years. He married mar-ried Lillis Wilkins, January 4, 1889. She died March 10, 1940. "Wagon Wheels" Dance Theme The Fourth wfcrd Gold and Green Ball was held recently in the Fourth ward amusement hall. The theme, in keeping with the Centennial year, was "Wagon Wheels"; Miss Letha Romney was crowned crown-ed queen of the Gold and Green ball by Bishop Theodore M. Taylor. Tayl-or. Letha's attendants were: Loa Jean Butler, Verna Beth Chris-tensen, Chris-tensen, and Carol Hansen, with Robert Clark as Crown Bearer and Marcia Halladay as flower girl. At the left of the queen is Jeanne Davis, and at her right is Frankie Killpack. The Wednesday night affair is for ward members and friends between the ages- of 12 and 16. The senior dance is scheduled for Thursday night. The theme of both dances will be "Sage Brush and Wagon Wheels." Catholic Women Invite Public To Canjj Meet The public is invited to attend the card party being given by the Catholic Women at the church hall, this evening at 8:30. Writer's Section Hears Author Mrs. Wyroa Hansen was guest speaker at the meeting of Writers' section of Women's Council, Monday Mon-day evening at the club house. Mrs. Hansen, who is well known as an author of juvenile literature, liter-ature, spoke on "Writfng for Children." Some poems written by Mrs. Anna Prince Redd, were pre sented by Mrs. Eldon Payne. Mrs. Dan Keeler presented an interest ing discussion on fiction writing. A beautiful corsage was given to Mrs. Hansen. V 0 Bff thday Party For Husband i Mrs. M. L.
