OUT OUR WAY Jaycccs to Make Service Award at Banquet, Jan. 20 SPRINGVILLE The Spring-ville Spring-ville Junior chamber of commerce have act their annual service award banquet and program for Thursday, January 20, at Memorial Mem-orial hall, as part of their observance ob-servance of national "Junior Chamber of Commerce Week", January 14 to 21. A highlight of the banquet will be the presentation of the second distinguished service award to the young man in this city between be-tween the ages of 21 and 35 years, who has rendered the most outstanding out-standing service to the community the past year. The first annual award presented present-ed at the 1943 banquet went to Harrison Conover. The young man ta receive the award has been selected by a committee of leading citizens and his qualifications have been approved ap-proved by the U. S. junior chamber cham-ber of commerce, according to Kay Johnson, president of the local organization. eO.Tw4 B W WtWYK WK Salem . SALEM Mrs. Maurine Gardner Hiatt of the Salem LDS ward of Palmyra stake has accepted a call to the northern states mis sion and has gone to Salt Lake City to attend the mission school. Mrs. Hiatt is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ivin Gardner of Salem. She is the wife of Ray Hiatt, who is a second-class petty officer in the U. S. navy, somewhere in the south Pacific. Mrs. Hiatt is a gVdauate of the Spanish Fork high chool and the Palmyra LDS seminary. She was employed as a stenographer at headquarters of the Ninth Service command at Fort Douglas at the time of her call. She was honored by a fare well social and numerous social functions given by friends. She was previously employed as a stenographer for the Boy Scout office at Provo, the University of Utah, and in the public service commission at the state capitol.
