Show provo, (UTAH) ' Daily herald' Friday, ' April 25,' ibn PAGE SEVEN DoyI iglil Sauinga Tims Hot Popular It appears daylight savings time will not be adopted in Utah this year unless a move in thi3 direction is made at the state capital, Clayton Jenkins, Provo chamber of commerce secretary, said today after sounding out the sentiment on the matter in other major cities of the state. Replying to an Inquiry from Mr. Jenkins, the Salt Lake City chamber of commerce informed they have made no move to adopt daylight savings time in that city although they have urged Utah's congressional delegation to support a bill proposing adoption adop-tion of the plan on a national basis. Ogden tried several years ago to force the issue In Utah but was turned down ty Salt Lake City, the Ogden chamber reported, re-ported, opining that if Salt Lake City would take the lead the rest of the state would follow. Daylight savings time was tried in Logan several years ago but did not prove successful, the Logan Lo-gan chamber advised Mr. Jenkins. Jenk-ins. Logan's experience indicates the plan cannot be operated to an advantage in an agricultural area, it was pointed out. As for Provo, it isn't likely that daylight savings time will be strongly urged here unless a move is made, for state-wide adoption, Mr. Jenkins indicated. Unless the plan is universal a lot of confusion results, ?ie pointed point-ed out. Under the daylight savings plan, the clock is turned forward so that the people go to work an hour earlier in the morning and quit an hour earlier in the afternoon. Major cities in many parts of the country will switch over to daylight savings time Sunday at midnight. All national broadcasting broadcast-ing hook-ups are making the same Change, shoving the programs pro-grams forward an hour.
