Interest in the two games among central Utah cage fans is at a high pitch, for indications are that both games will be close, hotly-contested battles. The best pre-game ticket sale of the season was reported today by B. Y. U". officials, indicating a capacity crowd for what promises to be the best games of the season sea-son here. The series is the final doubleheader of the season here and only appearances of Wyoming and Denver. The contests were two of the hardest-fought of the season, and tilts here promise to be duplicates. Because of its earlier victory, B.Y.U. will be favored over Denver, Den-ver, but Wyoming, leading the league at present and apparently headed for the title unless upset by the "Y," is given the edge over the Cougars. Boy Scouts of America, to be held Sat urday at 2:30 p. m. at the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university men's gym, according to Dr. Wayne B. Kales, chairman of senior scouting for the council. The tourney is free to the pub lic. Roy Johnson and Wilford Kay of Salt Lake City will be referees. Two teams will be selected from the tourney to represent the coun cil at the all-church finals in the Deseret gym at Salt Lake City February 28 and March 1. All-Stars Topple Wizards, 51-35; Carlson's, Jaycsss Uin Contest Turning In their best' performance perform-ance of the season, Utah Valley All-Stars out-played, out-fought, and at times out-clowned the Whiskered Wizards Thursday night to win, 51-35, in a game in the Provo high gym. Led by Don Whipple and LaVar Kump, a pair of performers as clever as most barnstorming players, play-ers, the all-stars played on even terms with the Wizards during most of the first period, then took a 26-20 lead at half time. The second half saw the valley team pull away from the Wizards, who showed the effects of constant traveling. In preliminary, Commercial league lea-gue games, Oscar -Carlson's became be-came the team to beat for the title by turning back 20-30 club, first-half champions, 28-24, in a well-played game. With Keith and Ted Smoot and Harold Frandsen setting the pace, the Carlson crew took an early lead and staved off repeated threats to win. In the other Commercial game. Junior chamber came through with its first victory of the season, sea-son, a decisive 26-14 victory over Daily Herald. After a slow start the Jaycees found their stride and were never headed after the first period. Merrill Croft led the winners with 11 points, and Owen Rowe collected seven. Melvin Kavache-vich Kavache-vich was good on defense. Against the Wizards, the All-Stars All-Stars unleashed a smooth passing attack that had the 'barnstorming 'barnstorm-ing bearded basketeers on defensive defen-sive most of the game. Whipple tanked 16 points in a nice performance, per-formance, and Kump counted 10. Interest centered on Alf Engen, carrying the colors of Sun - Valley, Ida., who hoped to better the North American jumping record of 273 feet, set less than two weeks ago in Washington by Toger Tokle.
