Fine Handwork Receive Praise By LARRY On one of my rounds to the homes of Provo needle artists I called on Mrs. Fern Cluff at 266 North 5th East street. Iter mother is also a Mrs. Cluff, although their husbands bear no kinship to one another. It Is quite a coincidence that mother and daughter should bear the same name, and that both should become widows, living together to-gether as they have done for many years. Many mothers and daughters are often at variance with each other, but not so with these two. They are very much in love with each other. The spirit of congen iality permeates the atmosphere of their home, and youf eel it the moment you cross the threshold. Real comraderie is one of the rarest rar-est things in life, and one of the most precious, and blessed are they who' dwell in its presence. Another thing that adds its por tion to the home beautiful is order and neatness and good manage ment of it? affairs. Work well done, no matter what it may be is always a source of joy and satis faction to everyone. Fern has a number of church offices in the Fifth ward, and several civic ap-rointments. ap-rointments. Every one knows that the work entrusted to her will be taken care of in the best possible manner. No one neds to worry or f par that it. will be neglected. A Fine Record What a fine record, what a pleasure it is to know that one's labors are counted worthy to stand among the best of their kind any where. It was her handcraft that I had come to see, and when it was laid before me, here mother's face lit up with emotion for well she knew that Ferns quilts and drawn work and crocheting were perfection itself, it-self, and so they were. The ap plique work was a marvel of in-isible in-isible hand sewing you could swear that the tulips were painted on the muslin rather than stitched on. The quilting itself and the finished fin-ished edges showed the same mastery mas-tery of needle craft and design. I am safe in saying that it cannot can-not be excelled and, dare I say duplicated for all around completeness, complete-ness, both in color and workmanship. workman-ship. It was a beautiful display, and shows what loveliness can be brought into being when desire is strong enough, and patience enduring en-during enough to make the dream a reality. LARRY.
