"The Love that Fosters Peace" was Airs. Jensen's topic top-ic and she led into her theme with "we have seen the light of the world grow dimmer. We have lived carelessly and well, contented, with material wealth. We have been easy, confident and selfish without much love for our fellow men. We have been blind to the dark forces that have 'crept upon us, stealthily at first and now openly, open-ly, and arrogantly. We are timid and frightened and almost helpless, help-less, as 1 believe the early Chris-tions Chris-tions never were." Mrs. Jensen quoted from the Revelations -of St. John and from famed authors and poets to Illustrate her topics.. She pointed to the progress made during the 19th century in the fight for de mocracy, and cautioned that "we have laid down our armour too soon, not only physical armour but spiritual as well." She touched on the comparison be tween the philosophy of the Norse gods and our own times, concluding that phase with "the evil all over the world is raising its head." Goingintd a more optimistic vein, Mrs. Jensen quoted from Herman Hagedorn, who envisioned envis-ioned the final triumph of the human soul over all evils, even including the destructive power of the atomic bomb.
