Show f- - Northwest Wants Power p Rotes Unchanged WASHINGTON, April 19 (U.R) -Three Spokesmen from the Pacific Pa-cific northwest today appealed to a house committee to maintain ' reclamation policies and laws j -'which permit sale of public power in .the northwest at low cost. They were Edgar J. Wright, Washington State Grange, Carl C Moore, director of The Northwest North-west Public Power association, and Harris O. Bohlke, Seattle In-W In-W dustrlal commission. They testified before a house public lands subcommittee considering con-sidering various bills to amend reclamation law. One main provision pro-vision of several measures would direct the reclamation bureau to 4 atop using- interest collected on ' power investments to help pay irrigation costs. Bureau spokesmen say such a ban would tend to raise power rates. "You are not going to' sell power pow-er unless you sell it cheaply," Wright said. "Sell it cheaply and you can sell it all." Moore said his organization supported use of power interest returns to help pay irrigation costs. Bohlke said the Seattle com- mission favored a bill by Rep. William Leemke. R., N. D. Like the other bills it would reduce the interest rate from three to two per cent .and extend repay-men repay-men periods from 50 to 67 years. Bureau spokesmen say those two provisions alone would low-to low-to er public power rates and .encourage .en-courage the entire reclamation program. City Milkman. Doubles in Brass KALAMAZOO, Mich. UJ0 : Most of Kalamazoo's milkmen could be counted among those eligible for membership in the "odd jobs union," a survey shows. In addition to delivering milk, they have been called on to change the baby's diapers, fire the furnace, buy and deliver groceries gro-ceries and deliver messages up and down their routes. Most of the milkmen even have keys to homes on their routes, to facilitate facili-tate their daily good deeds. Kalamazoo hosuewlves have come to lean on their neighborly milkmen. They serve 9s a back-' stop against the forgetfulness of husbands. When there's a clock to be wound, a dog to be let out. or a sidewalk to shovel, most housewives do not hesitate to ask the milkman's help. But when a customer asks a favor and then falls 'behind in payment of her bills, or when a favor is done and the housewife says "no milk today" that's all, brother.
