Ruling over the dance will be queen, Miss Marilyn Wilcox and her attendants, Maxine Peay and Dorothy Young. The entertaining floor show planned, will be comprised of various dances depicting the dif- ferent era from which they came. Tasty refreshments will be serv ed. Decorations will follow the chosen theme. Reception Held For NewJyweds Officers Elected At Club Meeting OREM The Better Homes club meet Thursday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Erma Josie. New officers were chosen for the coming 'year with Mrs. Erma Josie voted as president. Mrs. Mary McEwan, vice president, Mrs. Ethel Dickey, secretary, Mrs. Golda Mangum, reporter and Mrs. Sarah Y. Yasuda, to send remembrances. After the election the remain der of the afternoon was spent tearing rug rags. A delicious lunch was served to Mrs. Delia Collings a visitor, and club members. Mrs. Effie Millet, Mrs. Charlotte Char-lotte Skinner, Mrs. Sarah Y. Family Reunion Fetes Mr. Huff SPANISH FORK Honoring Don Christopherson and his young bride, the former, Arlene Carter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blake Carter of Springville, who were 'wedded January 2, in Las Vegas, a wedding reception was held at the First ward chapel January 24. , .. In the receiving line were the parents of the bride, the parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Christopherson. The best man was Gordon Barney and his wife, Mrs. June Barney was matron of honor. Cleone Baxter was bridesmaid and Dee Carter actec" as usher. The young bride chose for her reception, a simple cut, white satin dress with finger-tip net veil set with a row of seed-pearls, on her coronet. The attendants wore delicate corsages of white gardenias and the bride wore a corsage of orchids. After a well arranged program, the "evening was spent in dancing. Mrs. Delia Dallin showed the gifts and Mrs. Lester Beck and Esther Norton served refreshments refresh-ments assisted by Coleen Carter, Darleen Falkner and Donna Jean Chappie. Triple Four Club At Bridge Lunch A 1:30 luncheon followed by an enjoyable afternoon of bridge was diversion for members of the Triple Four club when they met at the home of Mrs. Martha Cragun Friday. Mrs. Maud Young and Mrs. P. A. Thnrman were guests for the afternoon. Prizes were awarded Mrs. A. M. Knudsen and Mrs. Young. Members present were Mrs. Fred Stubbs, Mrs. Bert Sutton, Mrs. Cal Cragun, Mrs. Parley Peterson, Mrs. J. B. Seethaler, Mrs. John Ellison, Miss Rhoda Douglas, Mrs. Knudsen and Mrs, A. Milton Thomas. Jan. 26 to honor I. William Huff, well known citizen of Span ish Fork, for 35 years engaged in the electrical work, most of that time as City electrician of Spanish Fork. The function included a well arranged dinner at 1 p. m. served Hoy Mrs. Huff assisted by daugh ters and daughters in-law. There were 25 close relatives present including the mother of the hon or guest, Mrs. Alice Huff Mike sell, who recently celebrated her 82nd birthday anniversary, mak ing four generations at the party, During the afternoon, three sons of Mr. nun, eniertainea with music, they were Don Huff, accordian: Arvil. piano and Am old Huff with guitar music, this provided a very enioyble after noon. In the late afternoon, light luncheon was served. Present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. David Garbitt and family of Eureka: Mr. and Mrs. Merle Seargeant and children of Spring ville. Mr. Huff was born at Lake Shore. Jan. 27. 1884. a son of Isaac and Alice Huff. He was educated in the public schools of Spanish Fork and at the age of 19 he married Geneva woods ana thev have made their home in SDanish Fork ever since. Two sons of Mr. and Mrs. Huff, Reed and Arvil served in the U. S army during World war II, both spending two years overseas. He has four brothers and three sis ters. Besides his electrical work Mr. Huff has had a hobby of fruit growing and has successfully success-fully operated a fruit farm, south east of Spanish Fork. Springville At an interesting and entertain ing party given by me Home Culture club on Friday at the home of Mrs. Harold Christensen, numerous articles were auctioned off to raise funds to carry on the club activities. The entertainment was in the form of a "white elephant" ele-phant" party and was concluded with refreshments. Members or the Mothers Study club held their annual Guest Day program on Friday afternoon, at the Second ward hall, with Mrs. Catherine Sumsion. club president, presi-dent, conducting. The entertainment entertain-ment featured a review of the 3-act play, "Pigmalion and Galatea," Ga-latea," given by Miss Enid Caldwell. Cald-well. Miss Cora Gardner also entertained en-tertained with an accordion selection se-lection and Mrs. Evelyn Boyer, a vocal selection. Hostesses for the occasion, who served a tasty Mapleton Miss To Marry Soon MAPLETON Mr. and Mrs. Walden Hurst of Mapleton, announce an-nounce the engagement and approaching ap-proaching marriage of their daughter, Miss Coleen Hurst, to Wallace Larsen, son of Mrs. Nora Larsen of Salt Lake City. The marriage is planned for February 20, to take place at Mapleton Ma-pleton and later the couple will be honored with a reception in the Mapleton hall. The bride-to-be is a graduate of the Springville high school and is at present enrolled in the Nursing school at the General hospital in Salt Lake City where she will graduate in the spring. Mr. Larsen is a World War II veteran attending the University ot Utah. They plan to make their home in Salt Lake City. Club Notes CLUB RADAR A "Ladies Day" luncheon will be held Tuesday at 1 o'clock at the Club Radar. All members of the club are invited to attend. SAMUEL PRATT Manti temple rites united in marriage Ida Louise Frandsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter L. Frandsen of Centerfield and Samuel O. Pratt, son of Mrs. Rey L. Pratt of Provo, Thursday, January 30. Parents of the young couple and other close family members accompanied them through the temple. Following Follow-ing the nuptial ceremony, a dinner with immediate family members attending, honored the newlyweds at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frandsen. The new Mrs. Pratt was validictorian for her graduating graduat-ing class at Gunnison high school. Mr. Pratt is a graduate of Provo high school and at present is attending the BYU. He .served with the army for three and a half years, one and a half years were spent in the China, Burma theater of war. About forty members and guests attended the affair. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Strong and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Crandall have spent the past few days on a trip to the coast. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Thorn spent the past week in Chicago, 111. where they attended the national convention of the Associated General Contractors, Mr. Thorn having recently been elected president of the intermountain branch. Mrs. Verl Weight in company with her mother, Mrs. Jayne Williams Wil-liams and her sister Coe Jane of Spanish Fork, are spending a few days with relatives and friends in California. Members of the Aureole club were delightfully entertained at the home of Mrs. Ivan Child on Friday evening. The topic of the evening, "A Night at The Opera," was presented by Mrs. Rea Straw, who reviewed the opera, "Mig-non," "Mig-non," and gave a short history of the composer, Charles Thomas. Her talk was intersperced by recordings re-cordings of opera selections and Miss Marie Child also sang several sev-eral .numbers, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Julia Sumsion. The next meeting of the club was set for February 7, at the home of Mrs. Lois C. Child. Spanish Fork SPANISH FORK Mrs. Olga Carling was hostess to the mem bers of the Euphronlan club with Mrs. Leona Boyack presiding. Mrs. Uda Hanson directed the program and introduced Mr. F. J. Faux who gave an instructive talk on the foundation of music. Refreshments were served by the hostess to nine members and two invited guests, Elaine Walker and Mrs. Maxine Banks. The Athenum club met at the home of Mrs. Nathan Hales. Mrs. Eva Child directed the singing with Mrs. Blaine Hales at the piano. A business session follow ed. Mrs. Louise Barron rendered a piano selection after which Mrs. F. J. Faux gave an interesting inter-esting report on the book "Hus bands of Mary. Refreshments were served to 16 members and two guests. Alta club members were the guests of Mrs. Mayme Jones at her home, with Mrs. Rebecca McKell in charge of the program. Mrs. Phebe Hughes conducted singing with Mrs. Fern Brock-bank Brock-bank at the piano. "Middle Window," Win-dow," a tale of English and Scottish Scot-tish life of today and yesterday, was reviewed by Mrs. Ruth Brockbank to 13 club members and guests, Mrs. Dlantha Livingstone, Living-stone, Mrs. Ardella Creer and Mrs. Eleanor Creer. Delicious re freshments were served. The members of the Beta Thalian club met at the home of Mrs. Alta Ludlow with Mrs. La-Vern La-Vern Higginson as co-hostess. Las Vegas Wedding Told SPRINGVILLE Announcement Announce-ment is made of the marriage of Miss Glenna Kennedy, daughter of Mrs. G. D. Kennedy of this city to Roy H. Bird, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Bird also of Springville. lne marriage took place oni Saturday, January 18, in the Hotel Last Frontier's Little Church of the West, Las Vegas, lyev. The bride was attired in a pretty afternoon gown of old rose and black accessories. She was attended by Mrs. Virgil Bird, Jr., as matron of honor and Mr. Bird acted as best man for his brother. Following the wedding, the newlyweds were honored with a dinner at the hotel and left shortly after for a few days Honeymoon trip to Los Angeles, Calif. Both are graduates of the local Springville high school. Mrs. Bird is a World War II veteran, serving serv-ing for some time overseas. They are making their home in Springville. Spring-ville. In their honor, several parties are planned for the coming week. President Ann H. Hanks took charge. A book review of "The Old Salt Lake Playhouse," was given by Mrs. Josie Tuttle. Mrs. Leone Minch was in charge of the program. Refreshments were served to 10 members. Nautilus NLU Pledges Girls Thirteen new pledges to Nautilus Nau-tilus of NLU recited vows at impressive first pledgings held at the home of Norma Boyle re cently, amid a background of soft candlelight. Following the ceremony where the "Squids" accepted NLU pledge - pins to be worn during the coming initiation week, ac tives serenaded the girls with their sister and pledge songs, as the pledges came slowly down the winding stairway. Club Doings SPANISH FORK Menbers of the Self Culture club and their husbands met at the home of President Lydia Stahman to honor Pres. and Mrs. W. J O Bryant who are leaving to make their home at Idaho Falls. Mrs. O'Bryant has been a member mem-ber of the club for nearly seven years. A hot dinner was served by a committee consisting of Mrs. Stahman, Edna Brockbank, Grace Gardner, Lizzie Evans, and Lyle Creer. Tables were decorated in valentine colors with red and white sweet peas. Following a period of games a short program was enjoyed with familiar songs led by F. J. Faux accompanied by Mrs. Faux. A toast to Mrs. O'Bryant was given by Henry A. Gardner and a toast to Pres. O'Bryant was given by Mrs. Lyle Creer; a toast to the honored couple was given by Mrs. Stahman, Stah-man, who also presented them with a gift of remembrance. The honored couple responded graciously gra-ciously to the toasts and expressed express-ed appreciation for the honor shown them. Mrs. Dean Jensen was hostess to the Aglaian club recently with Mrs. Loneta Johnson, president in charge. Mrs. Elaine Walker led the singing accompanied by Mrs. Blanche Jensen, Mrs. Helen Hawkins Haw-kins introduced the guest speaker of the evening, Alvin L. Gittins an interesting young artist from England. He lectured and entertained enter-tained the group with violin solos, accompanied by Melvin Dunn, also from England. The latter also favored with a number of piano solos. Both young men gave interesting impressions on their views of America. Both are students of the B Y U. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served to 15 members and 11 special guests. Eugene West was honored at a birthday dinner at the home of his sister, Mrs. Joseph W. Larsen in Pleasant Grove. Bidden to the dinner were Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Anderson, parents of Mrs. Larson and Mr. West. I Musicol Program Delights Club Guest artists, Mrs. J. Edwin Stein and Byron Jensen, delighted delight-ed members of the Readers Guild during their meeting Friday at the home of Mrs. D. Spencer Grow, when they presented an outstanding musical program comprised of special vocal selections selec-tions by Mrs. Stein, assisted at the piano by Mr. Jensen, and piano solos by Mr. Jensen. The bride is a graduate of the local high school. Mr. Logan is a World War II veteran, having served in the army air corps.
