Ninetieth Birthday To Be Celebrated: SPRING VILLE -Mrs. Mary J Finley. one of SprineviUe's best known citizens, will mark the occasion of her ninetieth birth , day , on Sunday, with an opeji houte reception from 2 until 8 p.m., at the family residence, 101 East Fourth Nor" St., to which an invitation is extended to all relatives, friends and neigh bors. The social function will be given by her sons and daughters assisted by her grandchildren. Active throughout her life in numerous civic enterprises, Mrs. Finley has an outstanding record of achievement in many noteworthy note-worthy endeavors. For many years, she has been interested in the preservation of pioneer landmarks land-marks and through her efforts in cooperation with other committeemen, commit-teemen, many memorials to early day settlers have, been preserved and others erected. During her early life, she worked work-ed in the Red Cross - and was district Republican chairwoman. She has served in the Utah count; D. U. P, organization and is a charter member of the Camp Springville D. U. P. She is also an honorary member of the Home Culture club. She was an early day member of the school board of education. Mrs. Finley has worked many years on a history of Springville, which is expected to b; published soon and to which townspeople are looking forward as a very authentic account of the settlement settle-ment of the city. Her husband, A. W. Finley, to whom she was married in December Decem-ber 1876, died in January 1938. She has eight sons and daughters, daugh-ters, John Finley, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Rena Roylance. Mrs. Lydia Palfreyman, Mrs. Eva Hanson, Mrs. Minnie Groesbeck, Arthur, Mae and Bess Finley of Springville. Spring-ville. ... Couple United In LDS Temple SPRINGVILLE Mr. and Mrs. Elvin E. Sumsion announce the marriage of their daughter Beverly,' Bev-erly,' to Don Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Miller also of Springville, which took place last Wednesday, in the Salt Lake temple. On. .Thursday evefflngr the couple was honored with a reception re-ception in the Fourth ward hall. The bride was beautifully gowned in a silk marquisette entrain en-train with a sheer yoke bordered with a ruffle and with a matching match-ing peplin. Her full-length veil edged with matching lace, fell from a tierra of pearls. Her bridal bouquet was of gardenias centered cen-tered with an orchid and the white satin streamers were caught with tiny finch roses. She was attended by her sister. Miss Teressa Sumsion as maid of honor and Mrs. Kathleen McKell, Mrs. Ruth Boyer, Mrs. Viola Jean Fox, Miss Marbara Bird, Mrs. Louise Bird and Miss Arlene Whiting were bridesmaids. It is of the cooperative coop-erative type, requiring time spent in "in-service" training with New York firms, paying full tuition tui-tion and livable wage for one year, at which time she will receive re-ceive a Master of Science degree. Miss Dauwalder has completed requirements for graduation from the B Y U having majored in business administration. In addition addi-tion to this, she has studied at the University of Southern California Cal-ifornia and the University of Mexico at Mexico City. She is a daughter of Mrs. Agnes Ag-nes Beavers Dauwalder and the late, Francis C. The bride wore a beautiful white gown with satin bodice and net skirt entrain. Her fingertip veil of net was held in place by a beaded crown. The couple was attended at-tended by Miss Lucille Hunt as maid of honor and Ralph Dix as best man. Sunday Last Day of Exhibit Sunday afternoon will be the last day the Provo artist's paintings paint-ings will be on exhibition in the Provo Public Library art room and all who have not attended heretofore, are urged to do so. Pioneers Subject At PTA Meeting "Pioneers and their families crossing the plains" was the subject sub-ject guest speaker, T. E. Reese of the Pleasant Grove high school, spoke of during the recent meet ing of the Lmdon PTA, at the Lindon school. As a part of the entertaining program presented, children of the school favored with several musical numbers. PTA members urge all parents to attend the regular meetings scheduled for the future. Bridge Diversion At Utopia Club Diversion was in the form of bridge at the Thursday afternoon meeting of the Utopia club held at the home of Mrs. Jack Booth. Reception To Fete Couple SALEM Mr. and Mrs. Lyrm Stone of this city, announce the marriage of their daughter, Joyce to Leon Peterson, a son of Albert C. Peterson. Quilting; Red Cross Work Meet Ladies Aid members of the Community church met recently for an all day quilting and Red ' Cross work, at the church hall.
