Serve Icebox Cakes ii Festive Christmas . . holiday parties. - BY GAYNOR MADDOX NEA Staff Writer For a small Christmas dinner or a holiday party for a crowd, try individual refrigerator cakes for a festive dessert. They're easy to make and can be tucked away in the refrigerator well ahead of time. At the last minute, garnish with fresh fruit. Individual Lemon Eefrizerator Cakes (Serves 6) One-third cup lemon juice, 2 teaspoons grated lemon rind, IW cups sweetened condensed milk, 24 vanilla or chocolate wafers. Stir lemon juice and grated lemon rind into sweetened condensed con-densed milk. When mixture thickens, spread on wafers. Place on baking sheet or tray covered with waxed paper. For each in dividual portion, pile four wafers on top of each other. Cover sides of pile of wafers with lemon mix- A merry, merry Christmas and loads of good cheer. Provoan Weds Pfc. Keith R. A Yule Dinner For TSC Club Women A Yuletide dinner party, -given at Snyders, was enjoyed by T S C club members, bridge being the diversion. The table was centered with candles and Christmas motifs. Mrs. Elmer Snell won the bridge high score prize, Mrs. Verl Powel-son, Powel-son, second and Mrs. William M. Jacobson, traveling. The women exchanged lovely gifts. ' In attendance were Mrs. Verl Powelson, Mrs. Elmer Snell, Mrs. Wendell Hoover Mrs. Victor H. Smith, Mrs. William M. Jacobson, Mrs. Joseph Gagon, Mrs. LaMar Groneman, Mrs. Wendell Hoover and Mrs. Milton Liltlefield. Dessert For individual lemon refrigerator cakes for ture. Chill one or two hours. Garnish with fruit. Chocolate Peppermint Refrigerator Cake (Serves 8) Two squares unsweetened chocolate, choc-olate, l'a cups sweetened con densed milk, cup water, 3 drops oil of peppermint, 24 vanilla wafers. Melt chocolate in top of double boiler. Add sweetened condensed milk and stir over boiling water 5 minutes until mixture thickens. Add water and oil of peppermint. Line narrow, oblong pan with wax paper. Cover with choco late mixture. Add layer of va nilla wafers, alternating in this way until chocolate mixture is used, finishing with layer of wafers. Chill in refrigerator 12 hours or longer. To serve,, turn out on small platter and carefully remove wax paper. Cut in slices. Yule Concert Is Enjoyed With their husbands as guests, members of the Women's Council music section observed the Yuletide Yule-tide season with a concert held at the clubhouse. Mrs. Leland .Madsen. chairman of the section, welcomed the group of 80 men and women, and the program was in charge of the music section chorus director, Miss Marguerite Jepperson. A large tree, trimmed with colored lights and festoons of colorful Yuletide spangles stood in the nail, and the serving table ta-ble was centered with a reflector, enwhich stood Christmas tree, banked with nine boughs and dotted with tiny carol singers. Mrs. Frank Rooney. council president, and the music section officers stood in the receiving line. The .officers Include: Mrs. Leland Madsen, Mrs. Bruce Lyman Ly-man and Mrs. Karl Miller. J., Dec. 22 (U.f9 Doctors said today time had'' cheated William Ayre of his last' bequest that the corneas of his1 eyes be used to restore sight to' blind veterans. . Ayre, 25, a partially disabled-war disabled-war veteran, shot himself through the heart yesterday and left a note3 that his eyes should go to the New York eye bank to help blind veterans. Doctors said, however, that the corneas of his eyes were of no use because they were not removed, within an hour after his death.
