Receotion For Wedded Pair Many relatives and friends extend congratulations and good wishes to Ralph M. Sor-rnson Sor-rnson and his bride of Thursday, Thurs-day, the former Zelma Johnson, at a wedding reception tendered tender-ed by the bride's parents, Mr. i and Mrs. Leonel B. Johnson of Iprovo, Saturday evening In the Second ward amusement hall. The young couple were married mar-ried at the bride's home by Bishop J. Earl Lewis, with only close family members attending. attend-ing. The groom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Mads Sorenson of Orem. For her wedding, the bride wore a .beautiful gown of white satin and chiffon, over which fell a long veil of tulle, caught with roses. Lovely gifts were presented to the newlyweds, who will make their home in Orem. Card Party Is Delightful Mrs. T. L. Clark was hostess to the Optimist club members Thursday afternoon at her home, luncheon and the game 500 being the diversions. High score prize went to Mrs. Ella Whittaker, and the second , favor was won by Mrs. W. H. Wagener. Daffodils were used to decorate the luncheon tables. Stoddard of LaGrande, Oregon, an-, nounce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Jean, to Gordon Mark Maughan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard J. Maughan, of Preston, Idaho. The young couple, Well known on the "Y" campus, will be wed in the Salt Lake Temple Monday. The bride-elect is president of the White Keys service sorority at the B. Y. U., where she is a senior. She is a member mem-ber of the Val Norn social unit. Mr. Maughan attended B. Y. U. and the California Institute Insti-tute of Technology. They will make their home in Pasadena, Calif. S. branch of service in Alabama. ' The young soldier is visiting his wife, the former Lynna Siler. of Birdseye and their, four months old son, Steven, whom he had not seen before. He enlisted in the service last October. '. . Couple Wed; To Live Here The marriage of a well known Provo couple is planned plan-ned for March 31, in the Salt Lake temple, when . Elaine Snarr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Snarr, becomes the bride of Lt. Thomas G-Bullock, G-Bullock, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Bullock. The bride-elect is a graduate grad-uate of the Provo high school, and has attended the B. Y. U. for two years, where she was affiliated with the Cesta Tie social unit. Lt. Bullock attended B. Y. U. and is a graduate of the University of Southern California dental college. He is stationed at Buckley field, Denver, where the couple will make their home. A home reception is being planned in their honor. Junior M.I.A. Ball Held Announcement is made of the marriage Friday of Miss Thelma Higgins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Higgins of 245 North Eighth East street, this city, to Ray Christophrson, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Christopherson of Spanish Fork. The bride is a graduate of the Provo high cchool. Mr. Christopherson Christoph-erson has been attending the Brig-ham Brig-ham Young university the past year, and is a member of the army air corps reserve. A. party of Friday evening, eve-ning, was the Gold and Green ball held for Beehive girls and Boy Scouts of Utah stake, at the Pioneer ward hall. The decorations were attractive and followed out the gold and green color scheme. Couple Wed At American Fork AMERICAN FORK The marriage mar-riage of Miss Nola Gray daughter daugh-ter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Gray, and Morley B. Keetch, spn of Mr; and Mrs. Stanley Keetch of XJndpn, took place Saturday night at the home of the bride. The ceremony, was performed at 8:30 "o'clock by president Jesse M. Walker of Apline stake, in the presence of members of the two (immediate families. The bride was lovely in white chiffon and wore a finger-tip veil with a cap of orange blossoms. Her corsage was of red roses and gardenias. Mrs. Junius Gray, matron of honor, wore aqua net over taffeta. Her corsage was of pink sweet peas. The best man was Reed Mathews Math-ews of Pleasant Grove. Follpwing the marriage light refreshments were served. Centering Cen-tering the dining table was a beautifully decorated wedding cake which was cut by the bride in the traditional manner. The young couple will reside in Pleasant Grove. Wednesday night at the Gray home a bridal shower was given ,by seven girl friends of the bride. Friday night the bride's mother entertained in the Harrington hall. Meal-Planning Class Commences Because of mnay requests, the, family life education program is sponsoring a series of classes in meal-planning and preparation. The class will be held each Mon day in the food laboratory of the Dixon high school, starting Mon day, at 8 o'clock. Miss LaRee Hymas will teach the class. In addition to the work in meal planning; help will be given m planning and planting a victory garden. Demonstrations and newest methods will be shown for the preservation and dehydration Of foods. These are vital ques tions fro all homemakers now. Tae class is free and anyone interested in this particular branch of nutrition is invited. Golf Dance Club Closes Season The closing dance of the season of. the Timpanogos Dancing club, was a delightful function of Saturday Sat-urday night, at the Golf club-Pse. club-Pse. .... A large crowd of dancing couples attended the fete, one of the gayest of the winter series. Afternoon Of Cards Enjoyed An enjoyable afternoon was spent by the Tres Joli culb members mem-bers at the home of Mrs. D. D. Suttbn. Thursday. Mrs. Harry Thomas, a former member, now living, in Oakland, Calif., was present, and Mrs. Fred Stubbs was a guest. Members attending at-tending were' Mrs. Alex Morten-sen, Morten-sen, Mrs. John Ellison, Mrs. Allie Jones, Mrs. Harry McCoard, Mrs. Gertrude Page, Mrs. Bert Sutton, Miss Rhoda Douglas, Mrs. Joseph Seethaler, Mrs. Milton Thomas, Mrs. George Beebe, Mrs. Albert S. Love ; grens or 37U s;asi Center street, are an other interesting "trio" family claiming Provo as their home, at least for the time being. Originally from Seattle, Washington, the couple, with their attractive little daugh- ter, Diane, five and a half years old, came here from Honolulu, where they lived in Waikiki for two years. Mr. Lovegren is architect ar-chitect for Utah Pom-roy Pom-roy Morrison, at present pres-ent engaged by Columbia Colum-bia Steel, and in Hawaii, Ha-waii, he was assistant architect for the Pacific Pa-cific Naval Air bases, and later, architect -for the navy department, depart-ment, at Pearl Harbor. Leaving Honolulu, in convoy, after the Japanese Jap-anese attack, they were embittered and saddened in the loss of close friends some through the bombing others captured at Guam, at the same time. Both are graduates $ffirsx . .:7 l Mrs. Lloyd J. Lovegren and daughter, Diane of the ' University of Washington, where thev were in art and music. Mrs. Lovegren's fine work is chiefly portraits mostly of Diane, who makes a lovely picture with her golden hair falling to her waist. Diane is showing a natural talent for art in its various forms does pencil drawings and clay modelings and receives almost nightly instructions from her Daddy. She's attending B. Y. kindergarten. Mr. Lovegren was architectural designer for the Lake Washington Pontoon bridge, the mammoth concrete floating bridge at Seattle. Also, he designed the tunnel portals, including the sculpture panels, at the entrance of the city. A. collection or orassware from China. Red roses and white snowdrops centered the table. Covers were laid for Mr .and Mrs. Joseph Giles, Floyd Giles, Mr. and Mr.s J. C. Schultz of Ogdeh, Mr. and Mrs. Hickman, Kenneth and Zelda Jane Hickman. Hansen greeted the guests and the. receiving line comprised, Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen and Mr. and Mrs. Jones, the parents; 'Calvin Frandsen, best 'man; the groom and bride; Mrs. Margaret S. Cannon, matron of honor, and Miss Myra Grace Jones, Miss'!- Hansen and bridesmaids. C. H. Grace of Nephi, grandfather grand-father of the groom, was present, also. The bride was gowned in white crepe, with dainty pearl trimmings, trim-mings, with matching pearl tiara holding in place her veil of net and lace. She held a boquet of gardenias and white roses. Mrs. ; Cannon was in pale blue Mrs. Cameron Is Hostess Mrs. Ned Cameron was hostess to the 4-C club members at her home Thursday, five-hundred being be-ing played and a dainty lunch served. ' , Mrs. . Olive Williams, Mrs. Wayne Madsen and Mrs. Moor-Ian Moor-Ian Snow won the club prizes, and Mrs. Mary Woodward and Mrs. Vem Brown the guest, favors. Miss Hansen's Han-sen's frock was of pink taffeta, and her corsage of gardenias and iris, and Miss Jones, who is a sister of the groom, wore blue taffeta, with pink roses. Mrs. Rasmussen, mother of the bride, was in black crepe, and Mrs. Jones, the groom's mother, in black net. They wore red roses. String music was played all evening by a quartet from the Prcvo high school, comprising William Knudsen, Maxine Strong,-Jean Strong,-Jean Slack and Bert Adair. Mrs. William Knudsen, and Mrs. Nellie O. Parker of Salt Lake City, had the serving' in charge, and the following girls- served: Arlene Knudsen, Elizabeth Hales, Jane Porter, LiUian Christensen and Lola Barnes. The table was beautifully . arranged ar-ranged with an ecru lace cloth, and as a centerpiece, a huge three-tiered three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a nuptial ornament of love birds and wedding bells. Pink candles were in silver candelabra, and a pink service and sliver trays were used. Phlox and snapdragons in delicat shades of pink were used " in further decorating the table,, and carnations, snapdragons and -heather were in bouquets about the rooms. The display of handsome gifts was in charge of Mrs. Allie R. Jex of Spanish Fork, assisted by Donna Jex, Donna Grace of Nephi, and Georgia Knudsen. Lt. Jones received his wings from Corpus Cristi, Texas, and was transferred immediately to the Pacific front, where he has spent the past 16 months.
