Ram beau Society Editor Phone 432 Double Wedcling Highlights Week End Social Functions Well Known Couple Wed Af jbOOOi Hi w ' The Misses Doratha and Wanda Jones, daughters of Mrs. Julia H. Jones of Orem. featured a pretty double wedding Saturday evening at the Sharon stake seminary, when they were united in marriage to Gerald Buckley and DeVar Scott .respectively. The bridegrooms are sons of Mr. and Mrs. George Buckley Buck-ley and Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Scott of Provo. . Attired alike in flowing the brides further carried out their twin ensembles with full-length veils of fine silk net, held in place by crowns of satin and lace, with trimmings of seed pearls and orange blossoms. Doratha's bouquet was of pink roses and lily-of- the-Valley, tied with pink ribbon, and Wanda held white rosea and C" i T I lily-of-the-valley, tied with blue I1UUUU. Attendants to Doratha included Mrs. Erraa Farley, matron of honor, who was in pink jersey; Miss Merline Gardiner, in blue dotted swiss; Mrs. Lucille Collins in white printed taffeta; Mrs. Mil dred Rohbock in rose georgette and taffeta, and Mrs. Almeda Gammon in blue lace. Max Andrews And-rews attended Mr. Buckley. Wanda was attended by Mrs. Madge Carter, matron of honor, in green taffeta; Mrs. Lael Norton, Nor-ton, in peach georgette; Mrs. Edith Jones, and Mrs. Jessie Kleinman in blue georgette, and Mrs. Eleanor Bown, in torquoise blue. Eugene Carter was best man to Mr. Scott. All attendants held dainty bouquets bou-quets of sweet peas, and the mothers moth-ers wore corsages. , Bishop Roy Gappmeyer of tre Timpanogos ward performed the ceremony at 8:15 o'clock, in the presence of a group of family members and close friends. Preceding Pre-ceding the cermony, Miss Gloria Dunn sang "I Love You Truly," accompanied by Miss Norine Miner. Spring blossoms and flowers and beautiful potted plants formed the background for the bridal party. Immediately after the ceremony the bridal party and guests retired to the Lincoln high school auditorium, audi-torium, where a largely attended reception complimented the wedded wed-ded couples. The receiving line comprised members of the bridal parties also, Mrs. Julia H. Jones, mother of the brides; her son, Earl Jones, and Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Scott and Mr. and Mrs. George Buckley, parents of the young men. - - - Victor C. Anderson was master of ceremonies and during dancing, the following program was furnished: furn-ished: solo, Moroni Jensen; dance, Elaine Anderberg; solo, Elvis Terry. ine reiresnments were m charge of Mrs. Geniel Jones, aunt of the brides, who poured; and Marilyn Christensen, Jeannene Watkins, Alene 'Edwards and Marie Rohbock, who served. Two serving tables were used and were covered with lace cloths. Lovely spring flowers and tapers were combined in decorating, one in a blue and white scheme and the other in pink and white. Pieces of wrapped wedding cake were passed. Receiving the many handsome gifts were Joyce Farnsworth, Maurine Williams, Sheree Terry and Carol Memmott and Mrs. Theda Burr, sister of the brides; Mrs. Althoa Sackett of Salt Lake City, their aunt, and Mrs. Myrtle Rowley were in charge' of the gift rooms. Mr. and Mrs. Scott will reside at 65 We&t Second South street, and Mr. and Mrs. Buckley will make their home in Orem. University Dames Give Canyon Fete A gay affair of Friday evening was the outing given by the University Dames for their husbands, hus-bands, at Canyon Glen. Softball and horseshoes were enjoyed and a delicious hot supper sup-per was served. An impromptu program was featured, as the group gathered about a huge bonfire, bon-fire, Alma Hansen leading in community com-munity singing, contest games and group contests. Dancing concluded con-cluded the enjoyable evening. Mrs. LaPrele Coffman, Mrs. Thelma Overly, Mrs. Margaret Borrowmaii, Mrs. Beth Manning and Mrs. Gwen Anderson comprised com-prised the committee. Forty-four members and guests were present. pres-ent. Card Club Entertained Mrs. Fred Hansen entertained the Forjjet-Me-ot club members Friday afternoon at her home; also the following guests: Mrs. Sally Rancher, Mrs. Wilbur Couch and Mrs. Carl Elliott. The members were Mrs. Curley Brown, Mrs. Frank Walter, Mrs. Lloyd Winter, Mrs. June Buchanan. Buchan-an. Mrs. Theron McFadden, Mrs. Martin Kimber, Mrs. Lawrence Jones. Mrs. A. M. Stephens and Mrs. Guy Walker. Luncheon was followed by bridge. Mrs. Couch won the guest prize; Mrs. Walker, first; Mrs. Kimber, second, and Mrs. Mac-Fadden, Mac-Fadden, consolation. Tulips and iris were used to decorate. i gowns of white slipper satin, O.ST6rS I en Clef Shower Party A miscellaneous bridal shower was given by Mrs. Ethelyn Miner and Mrs. Lois Johnson, honoring their sister, Mrs. Woodrow Dennett, Den-nett, the former Lola Clark, Friday Fri-day evening at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Lynn Clark. Prizes for the delightful games went to the Misses Beatrice and Ina Haws and Maurine hoover. A tasty luncheon was served. Beautiful Beau-tiful gifts were presented to the honor guest. Spring flowers were arranged about the rooms. Those present were Miss LaRue Cox, Miss Muriel Childs, Miss Maurine Hoover, Miss Beatrice Haws, Mrs. Ina Haws, Miss La-Rene La-Rene Barrett, Miss Ellen Lloyd, Miss Elaine Bullock, Mrs. Glenna Brown, Mrs. Mildred James, Mrs. Fay Snow, Mrs. Lois Williams and Mrs. Effie Clark. Tied to the favors for the guests were invitations to a trousseau trous-seau tea being held Sunday, May 25, at the Clark home. Discussion Group Ends Season The closing meeting of the season sea-son of the discussion section of the Women's Council was an interesting in-teresting affair of Friday afternoon after-noon at the Women's clubhouse. Mrs. Joel T. Brown, chairman, was in charge. ' ' ' A fine paper on "The Census of Provo Compiled by the Cham-t ber of Commerce," was given by Mrs. Clarence Harmon, and Mrs. G. H. Brimhall read a splendid article on "Prayer Is Power," by Dr. Alexis Carrel, M. D. Mrs. W. T. Hasler and Mrs. C. E. Maw followed with short talks on the council and the duties of its members. mem-bers. -Mrs. L. N. Oakley, incoming chairman, was introduced. Expectant Mothers Are Invited The expectant mothers' class held Friday, at the Utah Valley hospital was well attended. The room in which the classes are held is cool and comfortable, it is announced. The next class will be held Friday, Fri-day, May 23, and the subject of discussion will be "Mothers Cloth-nig.' Cloth-nig.' A display of clothing from the various stores will be shown. All expectant mother are invited in-vited to attend. Epsilon Chapter V V L i Lelt to right Miss Helen Alleman, Miss Dorothy Janson and made plans for the annual state City. She is president of the Thalian social unit, a member of Psi chapter of the Lambda Delta Sigma and has taken an outstanding part in other campus activities. Watkins of Orem. Both parents accompanied the young couple through the temple, and the ceremony was performed at 9 o'clock by President David Broadbent.
