Held at the Hotel Roberts Friday evening, and attended by more than 100 persons, including the ladies, the entertainment enter-tainment features centered around a Pan-American celebration. celebra-tion. The theme symbolized the bringing together of several countries, through the medium of television and radio, in the interest of promoting good-will. Decorations about the dining hall typified -the United States, Alaska, South America, Mexico and Hawaii, and hundreds of colored balloons were released as a climax to the eve ning's entertainment. Clarence H. Harmon, arrangements arrange-ments chairman, was master of ceremonies. George S. Ballif was installed as 1941 Kiwanis club president, and other officers installed included: in-cluded: George C. Larson and -Marion J. Steed, vice presidents; Henry D. Taylor, secretary-treasurer; Homer R. Bandley, Sam Sargis, Wendell C. LaBrache and J. YV. Christenson, Jr., directors. Outgoing President LeRoy J. Ol-sen Ol-sen automatically becomes a member mem-ber of the board. Jacob Coleman district governor-elect, acted as installing officer. Mr. Olsen responded re-sponded briefly. Guests introduced included Lieutenant District Governor and Mrs. James F. Wingate of Spring-ville, Spring-ville, Lieutenant Governor - elect and Mrs. Ray Walters of Price, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Slack of Og-den, Og-den, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Steed of Clearfield, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bybee, Mrs. Elizabeth Brown, and a new member, Clifton Tolboe, and wife. Mr. Coleman introduced Mrs. Celia Van Cott of Provo, who has been named poetess laureate of the Utah-Idaho district. She read a poem written especially for the occasion. During the banquet, attractive favors, cracker and cheese trays, were presented to the ladies under un-der the direction of Claude S. Ash-Vorth. Ash-Vorth. The Kiwanis ladies' trio, consisting of Mrs. Bernice Daa-trup, Daa-trup, Mrs. Zenith Johnson and Mrs. Mary Clark, sang- two numbers num-bers and led the group in singing "God Bless America." Mrs S. G. Sargis was accompanist. . The after-dinner program consisted con-sisted of stunts, skits, singing and dancing, and a spirit of hilarity pervaded. The first part came from Alaska, with Dr. Stanley M. Clark as master of ceremonies, And featured a piano solo by Joe A-shworth. From Argentina, with John W. McAdam in charge, a "famous" instrumental -quartet was presented. The personnel of the mock quartet which "played"' in rare style, included Evan Thomas, Orrin Jackson, Peter Jensen and Arthur D. Taylor, Also, from Argentina, there was an actual rooster fight between cocks coached by Homer R. Band-ley Band-ley and Jerry Bybee. Denzil A. Brown was master of ceremonies for the program coming com-ing from Hawaii, which feattAed songs by three B. Y. U. Hawaiian students, Reuben Ohai, Ben Ohai and Willard Kekausha, and songs and dances by Norma and Carolyn Caro-lyn Robertson, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Hilton Robertson, who spent the last few years in Hawaii. Ha-waii. Final portion of the program came from Mexico, with Senor Sterling M. Ercanbrack announcing announc-ing events of the gay fiesta which included songs by B. F. Robinson and Rinda Anderson, and dances by Marguerite Anderson and Dennis Romney, and was climaxed cli-maxed by a bull fight, with Madison Madi-son W. Merrill as matador. Dr. E. Mansfield D. C. Clegg and children have spent the past three days visiting with relatives in Salina. A welcome home testimonial honoring Joseph Blake will be held Sunday evening in the ward chapel. A fine program has been arranged and all ward nember3 are invited to be present. Elder Blake returned recently from the East Central states. The children of the ward were entertained Friday afternoon at a dance- Old Santa was there and gave the children a treat. The same evening the adults enjoyed a dance- The hall was decorated and everyone had a fine time. The Sunday school officers and teachers teach-ers were the sponsors. Literary Club At Christmas Breakfast Ladies' Literary club members enjoyed their annual Christmas breakfast Friday morning; at the home of Mrs. Richard Bandley, who was assisted in entertaining by Mrs. Rulon Morgan and Miss Marguerite Jepperson. A gayly trimmed tree, a beautiful beauti-ful azalia plant, and Christmas wreaths and bells decorated the entertaining rooms and the small tables were centered with white candles and held novelty candy favors. Invitation to Happy Hour Club Members of the Happy Hour Dancing club have been invited by Dr. Garland H. Pace to hold their New Year's night dancing party at the Utah State hospital ball room. Friday evening, the occasion being her birthday anniversary, Progressive games were played, prizes being awarded and a delicious de-licious luncheon served. Provoan Is Wed Home Wedding Friday Evening Gertrude Sauer, i well-known Provoan, became the bride of Glen LaVar Humphries of Los Angeles, during ceremonies held at the home of her parents, Prof .and Mrs. Robert Sauer, Friday evening. Mr. Humphries is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Humphries of Hinckley, Utah, who were here for the wedding. President R. J. Murdock of Utah stake officiated, the ceremony being performed at 7:30 o'clock in the presence of 45 relatives and close friends. , .
