Phone 1000 - Provo, Utah Ford Cars and Trucks Red Cross Fund a - r - - Z 1 Y For FlooJ Relief far Above Quota Deep appreciation to all work ers and contributors in the county was expressed Saturday by Dr. J J. Weight, county Red Cross chairman, and his staff as the flood relief drive closed a complete com-plete and splendid success. More than five times Utah county's quota as originally set was contributed to the drive, every penny of which went to di rect aid for the distressed of the Ohio-Mississippi valley flood area, Dr. Weight reported. Provo con tributed more than 60 per cent of the total funds of more than $2, 000. "The response of the workers out in the field was most grate ful. In no case was an individual asked to help but that he responded," re-sponded," Dr. Weight commended "The people were very considerate. consider-ate. Practically everyone gave voluntarily. In no case did the Workers have to convert anybody it was largely just a matter of receiving voluntary contributions. "Business houses, the industries, the schools, all of them contribut ed splendidly; the widdies with their nickels and dimes, the bus! ness workers with their larger amounts,'' Dr. Weight continued Out of the total received only about $100 was collected in amounts of over $5, Dr. Weight re ported. The entire amount was sent di rectly to national headquarters and the money is or will be spent entirely in the flood area. None of it will be used for administration costs. . "Mr. Orson Slack, disaster re lief chairman for the county chapter, chap-ter, deserves a great deal of praise for organizinig his part of' the drive. Lehi, American Fork, Pleasant Grove, Orem, Provo, and Spanish Fork all contributed over five times the original quota. "Mr. S. D. Packard effectively organized the collection in Provo city, and certainly directed a fine piece of work," Dr. Weight stated. "As chairman, I wish to thank the people most heartily for the splendid splen-did reception which we met everywhere." every-where." Court Grants Order To Open Ban Boxes Authority to open deposit boxes of the closed Bank of American Fork was granted Rulon F. Star-lev, Star-lev, state banking commissioner.
