Lynn Haws of Provo announce the forthcoming forthcom-ing marriage of their daughter, Ora to R. Wendell Vance, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Vance of this city Mr. -Vance is at present attending Northwestern Medical college at Chicago. The announcement will be read with interest by friends of the prominent couple. The bride-to-,be is instructor of home economics econom-ics at the Provo high school. She is a graduate of the B. Y. U. where she was popular in student activities, being vice-president of the Junior class, a member of 1 Gamma Phi Omicron, aad the O. S. social unit. She is president j of the alumnae chapter of Gamma Phi Omicron Mr. Vance fulfilled a mission in Canada and graduated from the B. Y. U. in 1934, where he i was a member of the Vikings social unit, Blue Keys, national honorary fraternity, and Delta Phi. . Dixon of Provo, to Martin C. Ririe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Ririe gf Lewiston, Utah, will take place June 4 in the Salt Lake temple. Witnessing the ceremony will be Mrs. Ririe. Mr. Dixon, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Flygare, Mr. and Mrs. G. L. Crandall and Mrs. C. Beckstead, grandmother of the bride. A wedding breakfast is being planned by Mrs. Grant L. Crandall Cran-dall of Salt Lake City, aunt of the bride, for the newly weds and the immediate family members, the affair to follow the ceremony. The young couple will spend a few days in Salt Lake City, then will leave for a short trip. They will make their home in Lewiston. Miss Dixon is a normal graduate grad-uate of the B. Y. U. and has been teaching at the Maeser school for the past lour years. Mr. Ririe also a former student at the "Y", has fulfilled a mission in Czechoslovakia. Cal., the marriage to take puce late in June in the Presbyterian church in Alhambra. Miss Ireland graduated from the Wasatch academy in Mt. Pleasant, and for the past four years has been employed as cashier at Newberrys store in Alhambra. Card Club Entertained An enjoyable time was spent by members of the La Conda club at the home of Mrs. Reuel F. Jacobsen Thursday afternoon. Bridge and a tasty repast were the diversions, the high score prize being won by Dr. Darwin Boardman. and the consolation favor by Mrs. Vaun Livingston, a guest. Mrs. Clark Webb was also a gust. Is Held In Be Wed Miss Ada Conover of Provo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Jensen of Ferron, Utah, is soon to be united in marriage to John L. Buckley, son of Mrs. Jennie Buckley Hughes of Provo. May 25 has been set as the wedding date. Immediately following the marriage, mar-riage, the young couple will leave for Reno, where Mr. Buckley is employed. The bride-elect is a graduate of the B. Y. Norton of Provo, of the engagement of their niece, Myrle, daughter of R. W. Norton of Panguitch, Utah, to Ned Gines, son of Mrs. Florence Gines of Provo. The marriage is to be an event of early June, the ceremony to be solemnized in the Salt Lake temple. Miss Norton, who has been making mak-ing her home "nere with her uncle and aunt, is a graduate of the Provo high school. She is a members mem-bers of the Gaiete de Coeur club. Mr. Gines also graduated from the Provo high school. 4 s 0 This Week The engagement of Miss Afton Salisbury to Albert Stubbs, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John R. Stubbs, is made by Mr. and Mrs. Ii. J. Salisbury of Provo, parents of the bride-to-be. The marriage is to De held this week in the Salt Lake temple, after which the couple will leave for Boulder City, Nev., where they will make their home and where Mr. Stubbs is engaged in business. Miss Salisbury graduated from the Lincoln high school in 1932. Optimist Club At Social Affair Optimist club members were the guests of Mrs. Mary Hopkins Thursday afternoon at her home. Mrs. Ada Saxey of Spanish Fork, and Mrs. Glen Pharo of Granby, Colo., daughters of Mrs. Hopkins, were guests, also Mrs. Adelbe'rt Hopkins and Mrs. J. J. Madsen of Provo. The club members present included: in-cluded: Mrs. Z. Whittaker, Mrs. John Lundahl, Mrs. Charles Scott, Mrs. Leo Mecham, Mrs. James Sutherland, Mrs. C. C. Jones, Mrs. Arthur Clyde and Mrs. Harvey Higgins. Progressive 500 was played and a dainty luncheon followed. Mrs. Clyde won the high score favor and Mrs. Whittaker the second prize. Y. U., held at the McCune School of Music in Salt Lake City. One hundred and fifty couples, including members and guests attended at-tended the function, the patrons for which were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Parley E. Glover, Mrs. Laurie E. White, Mr. ana Mrs. Lester Belliston and Miss Wilma Jeppson. Miss Margaret Summerhays, sponsor, was also present. The unit colors, silver and green predominated in the decorations decor-ations and refreshments, the former for-mer consisting of beautiful spring flowers and ferns. The programs were silver with green trimmings and bore the unit seal. Harry Blackwell's orchestra furnished the music. At intermission, inter-mission, a lovely violin solo was played by Miss Dearwyn Sardoni, and Miss Metta Richie rendered a beautiful vocal solo. Selections were sung by the unit girls. The committee on arrangements arrange-ments included: Miss Edna Glover, Miss Hazel Glover and Miss Ruby Cox. Officers of the unit include: Sarah White, president; Edna Glover, vice president; Reva Vick-ers, Vick-ers, secretary and treasurer; Ruby Cox, librarian; Josephine White, reporter. Fay Anderson Married In Salt Lake Miss Fay Anderson, daughter of State Auditor and Mrs. Julius C. Anderson of Salt Lake City, formerly of Provo, was united in marriage to Ronald E. Morris, son of Mrs. Edna Morris of Salt Lake Wednesday in the Salt Lake temple. A wedding dinner followed the ceremony, at the bride's home, j after which the party motored' to Provo and spent the evening at the residence of the bride's I sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and j Mrs. Karl H.
