That record was more than broken, when three girls threw a baseball farther than he old record distance of 184 feet 9 inches, inch-es, set by Argyle of Spanish Fork in 1933. Clara Tolar, of Rock Springs, Idaho, set the new mark of 196 feet. Mildred Cragun, Weber, We-ber, and Bernice Bowman, Mc-Caramon, Mc-Caramon, Idaho, also threw the ball farther than the old mark. Outside Teams Win Out-of-state girls monopolized most of the first places, and the Rock Springs, Wyoming; McCam-mon, McCam-mon, Idaho, and far-off Blanding. Utah teams, all did exceptional work. Phone 20 World Sprint Record Set By Stella Walsh Polish Woman Dash Phenom Runs 60 Yards in 7 Seconds To Set New Standard. Stella Walsh shattered the accepted ac-cepted world's 60-yard dash record Friday afternoon when she ran the distance in 7 seconds flat, in competition with Vera Conder and Laura Banner of the B. Y. U., and Selma Bates and Maxine Cramer, Henager's College. Miss Walsh broke the record of 7 and 4-10 seconds, established by Helen Filke. It was an exhibition event held as one of the features of the 25th annual "Y" Invitation al meet The Polish marvel came in five yards ahead of Laura Banner, who outdistanced Miss Conder and Miss Cramer several yards. Miss Bates trailed. Miss Walsh's start was somewhat some-what slow, due to the fact that the runners had been called back five times when Miss Bates jumped jump-ed the gun. Gordon Giles of East high school, after figuring in winning the doubles championship last year, came in this year and took the singles championship in the B. Y. U. Invitational Relays tournament, tourn-ament, defeating Bud Edison of South Cache, 7-5, 6-2. Bill Pardoe and Malcolm Booth, B. Y. high aces took the doubles championship by defeating Hansen Han-sen and Slack of Provo high, 6-1, 7-5. The junior college titles were taken by Bill Rowley of B. A. C. in the singles and by Don Wol-from Wol-from and Burton Wheatlake of Westminister won the doubles crown. Rowley defeated Foley of Weber, 6-4, 6-0 in the finals and the Westminister team beat Corey and Palmer of B. A. C, 7-5, 6- 3. Umpires and scorers were approved, ap-proved, the official league ball was adopted, team rosters were approved ap-proved and other business transacted trans-acted in a meeting of the Utah Industrial baseball league at Provo Friday night. Bert Bullock, of Provo was, approved ap-proved as one of the six umpires, the others being B. W. Barber, Gemmell club; A. Liddell, U. S. Mines; Roy Austin, Royal Bakers; E. E. McCarty, Magna, and William Wil-liam D. Kidd, Gemmell club. Alternate Al-ternate umpires are John Barrett, Whit Hoover, Bert Brewster, E. Lee and William Spry. The league moguls also approved approv-ed team rosters, which consist of 15 men and five rookies, according ac-cording to a motion proposed by Bob Bullock of Provo and carried at a previous meeting. Shift Schedule One shift in the schedule was made. Provo, instead of playing a double header with Holsum on May 12, will play one game on May 12 and the other on Saturday, June 8 at Provo, starting at 4:30 p. m. The May 12 game is set at 3 p. m. A general rule adopted previously pre-viously was that all games are to begin at 2:30 p. m. with double headers starting at 2, in Provo. Games start at 5 p. m. in Magna, Mag-na, and at Bingham after May 30. Before May 30 in Bingham, the starting time is 4:30. At Salt Lake the starting time is the same as at Provo. Scorers for Provo are Jean R. Paulson and Maurice Jones. The league openers are set for May 5. when Provo will play at U. S. Mines, Holsum at Royal and Gemmell at Magna. HONORS Winning seven first places and a goodly sprinkling of seconds thirds, fourths and fifths, Weber junior college of Ogden, Utah, won the Intermountain Junior championship in their official meet held in conjunction with the B. Y. U. Relays Saturday in the "Y" stadium. Weber scored 59 Ms points. Branch Agricultural College of Cedar City gave the winners a close race and finished second with 51 1-5 points. Brewster of Madison junior high leaped 5 feet 7 inches to exceed ex-ceed by an eighth of an inch the old mark held by Christensen of Delta since 1933. Russell Nielson of Pleasant Grove was outstanding. He won both the 100-yard dash and the 200-yard dash. He ran the hundred hun-dred in :10.8, 2-10s over the record, rec-ord, and made the 220 in :23.8, 4-10s over the record made by Cyrus Ellsworth last year. Starter C. J.
