From an early age when he commenced his studies, -he has developed his ability as a musician musi-cian and teacher until he i'3 generally gen-erally recognized as the dean of band musicians in the west. He has developed hundreds of musicians and teachers. At a meeting for music teachers and supervisors last fall in Salt Lake City, a tribute was paid Professor Sauer and his accomplishments- More than a third of those present were his former students. Thoroughness and good musical taste, a characteristic German trail, has been stamped on "Y" bands from year to year, through his influence. Prof. Sauer has a rare personality personal-ity and makes friends easily. He is tn .constant demand to serve as adjudicator at band contests throughout the western country.
