Rambeau Phone 494 Interesting Features For Women; Club and Lodge News Bass-Cale Reception Proves Delightful Affair of Week Mrs. Grace Bass was hostess to a large number of guests at a wedding reception Tuesday evening in the First ward hall, honoring her daughter, Bonnie, and Lloyd Gale, son of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Gale of Salt Lake City, whose marriage mar-riage took place in the Salt Lake temple Monday evening. An evening of dancing was featured, music being furnished fur-nished by Dob Orton's orchestra. Tasty refreshments were served. The receiving line comprised Mr. and Mrs. Gale, Mrs. Bass, the bride and groom; Claude Gale of Salt Lake City, brother of the groom, best man; Mrs. Roy EllioU, sister of the I bride, matron of honor; Lois j Hjorth, Salt Lake City, and Miss WIVma Bass, the bride's sister, bridesmaids, and little Jeanette Kirkwcod, Provo, and Renee Giau- que, Salt Lake City, flower girls. Mrs. LaVon Giauque, Salt Lake I and Mrs. Morris Jones, sister of the bride, were at the door to greet the guests. The bride was lovely in a peach colored chiffon and lace gown over taffeta, and she carried a bouquet of gardenias and Talisman Talis-man roses, and a wreath ot orange blossoms in her hair. Mrs. Elliott was in old rose chiffon, and carried pink roses and orange blossoms; Miss Hjorth's frock was of green brocaded satin, and Miss Bass wore violet chiffon. Their corsages were of roses and sweet peas. The little flower girls were in white net over taffeta, taf-feta, and pink silk crepe, respectively, respect-ively, and they carried baskets of flowers. Frampton of Pleasant Grove, are announcing announc-ing the engagement of their daughter, Mildred, to Elwood Allen, Al-len, son of Mr. and Mrs. John K. The committee comprised Miss Kathryn Pace, chairman; and the Misses Frances Seaton, Marjorie Straw, Belle de Jong and Alice Todd. During the tea,' beautiful harp selections were played by Miss Marjorie Mensel; piano number were rendered bvMr?. Florence T. Britsch and Miss Geraldine Eg-gertsen Eg-gertsen sang. The Val Norn song was sung by the group. Beautiful corsages were presented pre-sented to the mothers. The graduates honored on this occasion included the Misses Dona Dastrup, .Ethelyn Peterson. Gold and lavender, the unit colors, predominated in the decorative decor-ative scheme, crystal candlesticks holding gold and lavender tapers, and beautiful spring flowers forming form-ing the centerpiece. Croft attended a wedding reeeption in their honor, given at the Hyrum Jensen Jen-sen residence in Salt Lake City, Wednesday evening. The- young couple was united in marriage in the Salt Lake temple Wednesday morning, the bride being a daughter of Bishop and Mrs. R. A. Brower of Salt Lake City, and Mr. Croft, a son. of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Croft of Provo. The receiving line comprised: Bishop and ' Mrs. Brower, Mr. and Mrs. Croft, Evan Croft, best man; the groom and bride; Mrs. William Wil-liam C. Bain, matron of honor; Mrs. Morris Parrish, maid of honor; Miss Beth Stout, Miss Kathryn Jorgensen and Miss Jo-Ann Jo-Ann Brower, bridesmaids, and little Sandra Bain, flower girl. A handsome gown of white satin, modeled Princess style with train, was worn by the bride, and her filmy veil was attached to a beautiful pearl headdress. She carried roses, lily of the valley and sweetpeas. Mrs. Bain appeared in green crepe; Mrs. Parrish in salmon pink crepe; Miss Stout in lavender laven-der silk, Miss Jorgensen in aqua blue and Miss Brown in yellow silk. They wore flowers in their hair, and held bouquets of roses and sweetpeas in matching colors. col-ors. The flower girl wore a dainty frock of aqua blue, Princess Prin-cess style, and she carried a lovely flower basket. Mrs. Brower wore a lovely blue silk gown with a lace bolero bo-lero jacket and a gardenia corsage, cor-sage, and Mrs. Croft was in a flowered gown and wore gar denias. William C. Bain escorted the guests to the receiving line and Vincent Newcomer ushered them from the line to the gift room. Mrs. Dean Steed and Miss Elaine Theobald had charge of the refreshment room, with the Misses Elizabeth Freeman, Donna Don-na Jarvis, Edith Matthews and Dorothy Dalton serving. Mrs. Golden Anderson, Mrs. Adaline Allan, Mrs. Evan Croft and Mrs. Calvin Croft had charge of the gift room. After a week's trip to Grand, ion and Bryce canyons, the couple will return to Provo to reside. Good Recipes for Strawberry Jam i BY ALICE BLAKE t Sparkling glasses filled with jelly, jam and marmalade are I a baking inspiration. Start with I strawberries now and fill those empty glasses. In the months to come, when fresh fruits cannot be obtained in quantity, you can make such good things as Strawberry Straw-berry Chiffon Tarts. Strawberry Jam 4 cups ( 2 lbs.) prepared fruit j 6 cups (2 lbs.) sugar 1 box powdered fruit pectin. 1 To prepare fruit, grind about 2 quarts fully ripe berries, or crush completely one layer at a time so that each berry is reduced to a pulp. Measure sugar into dry dish pand set aside until needed. Meas ure prepared fruit into a 5- to 6-quart kettle, filling up last cup or fraction of cup with water if necessary; place over hottest fire. Add powdered fruit pectin, mix well, and continue stirring until mixture comes to a hard boil. At once pour in sugar, stirring constantly. con-stantly. (To reduce foaming, teaspoon butter may be added.) Continue stirring, bring to a full rolling boil, and boll hard 1 minute. Remove from fire, skim, :pour quickly. Paraffin hot jam at once.
