It is a throbbing love story, full to the brim with human understanding and moving drama. Moi-e, it brings back to the screen an actress of great talent, Ruth Chatterton. An exceptional cast surrounds the star: Otto Kruger, Lionel At-will, At-will, Marian Marsh, Lloyd Nolan and Robert Allen are included. And they all perform in excellent fashion. Perfectly acted uy Miss Chatter-ton, Chatter-ton, Kruger, Atwill, Muss Marsh and the others, finely directed by Marion Gering is a new triumph for the" screen. Seen as a street-photographer who snaps a picture of a daring criminal and thereby becomes the prey of a gang of desperate thieves, Roger Pryor enacts the leading role in the Crest's second feature. Plenty of dramatic punches, pithy dialogue, a sprightly roman several amusing comedy characters, charac-ters, plus an ingenious plot, are said to make "The . Case of the Missing Man" a diverting, hilar-ous hilar-ous and suspense-laden picture. Harold Buchman and Lee Loeb Hollywood's youngest scenario-writing scenario-writing team, are credited with both the original story and screen- play. Dr. Ross IxHlerman is re sponsible for the direction. STORIES IN 1 By I. S. First North, Provo NEW HAVEN, Conn. U.H Evidence that Mrs. Nathaniel Hawthorne, wife of the author of "The House of Seven Gables" and "The Scarlet Letter," altered her husband's notebooks to conform to her standards of propriety and morality has been found by Prof. Randall Stewart of the English department at Yale University. By comparing the original manuscripts of the American notebooks now in the Pierpont Morgan library with the note-looks note-looks published by Mrs. Hawthorne, Haw-thorne, Stewart discovered that she not only omitted parts which threw considerate light on her husband, but she "also revised the not books to such an extent that the published version seriously misrepresents his character and literary genius." Stewart points out that James Russell Lowell, urged by Longfellow Longfel-low to write a biography of Hawthorne, Haw-thorne, agreed to do so, but encountered en-countered an "insuperable obstacle" ob-stacle" in Mrs. Hawthorne's unwillingness un-willingness to allow a free use of the journals, whereupon Lowell abandoned the project. Many revisions were made by Mrs. Hawthorne, Stewart found.
