Appropriate games were inter spersed with muse and a delicious luncheon, in a pink and white scheme, was served to 20 guests. Beautiful gifts were presented to the honor guest. fft m Hallowe'en Carnival Planned for Friday The Second ward Primary - asso ciation has arranged a free Hal lowe'en carnival, to be held Friday evening at 8 o'clock in the ward halL Tap dancing will be furnished by Jean Cox, Sam Kelley, Maurine Garfield and Lucile Hunt; a skit will be given; Miss Knight will read, and a selection will be played by the Dixon Buckaroos. After the program, a beautiful blanket is to be given away. Hallowe'en Party Being Arranged The Em Anon social unit of the B. Y. U. will hold a Hallowe'en costume parry in trio Fifth ward hall Friday evening. Games and stunts, appropriate to the occasion, will be followed by refreshments. W. M. I. A., was honored at a delightful uzaal function tendezs ed by the present stake Y. W. M. I. A. officeta, Wednesday evening eve-ning at the Manavu ward halL As th guests assembled, beautiful beauti-ful string .music was played by the Misses Helen and Blaine De Graff and Lota Paxman. Miss Elizabeth S outer, stake president of the organization presided. Miss Helen De Graff led in community singing of "M. L A., Our M. I. A.' and prayer was offered by Mrs. Ellen Holdaway of Vineyard ward. Two lovely vocal solos were rendered ren-dered by Mrs. Allie W. Clark, accompanied ac-companied by Mrs. H. D. Christen-sen. Christen-sen. Miss Beulah Sowards, who re cently 'returned from a mission in the Hawaiian Islands, led in a novel Hawaiian gamej and this was followed by a skit, presented under the direction of Miss Catharine Cath-arine Decker. A lively feature of the evening, was the entertainment entertain-ment furnished by the Sousana band, the personnel of which comprised com-prised the nine ward presidents of the stake, with Mrs. Anna B. Minger as drum major. The seconc part of the program was devoted to tributes to Miss Cheever, and a variety of musical selections. Mrs. Leah S. Larson represented the stake board, and Mrs. T. N. Taylor, the stake presidency. presi-dency. Mm. Leona D. Weech, former stake Y. W. M. I. A. president, presi-dent, followed, also, Mrs. Jennie B. Knight, founder of the old M. L A. firls' home in Springdell, Provo canyon, (and Mrs. Oriel Clegg, president of the Sharon stake Y. W. M. I. A. A tribute to Miss Cheever, in playlet form, was presented by the following Manavu ward women: Mrs. Irma G. VViest, Mrs. Leah C. Vfcn Wagenen, Mrs. Myrle C. Kirk, and Mrs. Lucy B. Sudweeks. A beautiful beauti-ful number was sung by a trio, comprising the Misses Elaine De Graff, Leona Fetzer and Eva Crapo. Miss Beulah Sowarda entertained en-tertained with a novel Hawaiian dance. Mrs. Katie C. Jensen, general board member, made brief remarks, re-marks, after which Miss Souter in behalf of the officers, presented Miss Chetver with a handsome kodak and leather case. Miss Cheever responded with words of appreciation to her many friends. Tasty refreshments were served in an adjoining room, the table being beautifully arranged with a lace cover over orange, and a black centerpiece of orange and bronze marigolds. Orange tapers were In handsome brass candelabras at either end of the table. Mrs. Eve K. Tatton and Miss Jennie Campbell Camp-bell poured. Mrs. Don C. Merrill, Miss Eunice Bird and Mrs. Emma J. Hinckley comprised the refreshment refresh-ment committee, and Miss Zelma Winterton had the decorations in charge. Book Reviewed At Beta Sorosis club A splendid review of the book, "The Inquisitor," by Hugh Wal-pol, Wal-pol, was given by Mrs. Lee Snarr at the meeting of the Beta Sorosis club held at the home of Mrs. Wilson K. Anderson Wednesday afternoon. Plans were made for the club's fifth annual birthday dinner to be held next month, and a new member, mem-ber, Mrs. Carlton Culmsee, was introduced.
