Show B.D.A.A FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp MINERS PLACE SECOND: WIN PLAUDITS OF FANS! Although the local prep hoop squad lost a hard fought battle in the championship final of the Class B tourney, the Miners won the praise of nearly every fan for their gallant play throughout through-out the four day meet. Playing against taller squads, the Bingham Bing-ham crew, through fine team play and determination, routed their, opponents the first three days and put up a swell scrap before losing to a red hot Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove five 61-56. In such a well balanced squad as the Miners presented to tourney tour-ney fans it is almost impossible to pick out an individual star, ibut the brilliant all-around play of Dick Susaeta brought him all-state all-state honors. In our book the entire squad and Coach Wankier deserve our highest rating, so we wish to congratulate them all for a splendid season. Nice work Miners! Baseball Season Near No sooner do we wind up hoop play than the old outdoor sport of baseball rolls around. Already the preps are beginning early season workouts, and before long the BDAA squad will start. I At the last Board of Directors meeting, Herb Babcock was reelected re-elected as baseball manager for the BDAA, and he is already at work lining up a squad for this seasons play. Anyone interested in playing for the BDAA should contact Mr. Babcock as to spring plans. The Northwest League officers have met several times and a-bout a-bout have plana laid for the '56 season. The four squads from last year are all back, and it looks like a stronger and better league may be formed, with several sev-eral new dubs seeking entries. |
