BUtlPEO OFF ' "Tovjm c ".Yg' Airman Is Charged With Drunken and Reckless Driving NORWALK, Conn.,. April 7. (U.R Edward Pfieffer, RosUndale, Mass.,' must answer Saturday to j charges of drunken and reckless operation of an airplane because he did the following: i Flew a plane here, landed at , a flying field and in taking off for a second field, scooped off the tops of three sedans, caromed into a second car, and narrowly missed one or more spectators. The plane appeared over the city late Saturday afternoon, executing a series of amazing maneuvers which drew the attention of thousands thou-sands and caused traffic difficulties. difficul-ties. After entertaining the city, Pfieffer landed at Baxter park. Hundreds flocked to see the plane, including Policeman Chester Coombs. Coombs told Pfieffer he could leave his plane at Norwalk airport, air-port, a few, miles away, and obviously, ob-viously, cleared a path through the, crowd for a take-off. Pfieffer pulled back the throttle and the plane roared away. But it could not gain sufficient momentum to clear a line of parked automobiles as it clipped the tops off three. The plane crashed to earth, shattering shat-tering the wings and damaging the fusilage seriously. Pfieffer climbed out of the wreckage, a trifle un steadily but uninjured. Occupants of the damaged, automobiles also climbed out of their machines and rorr.pt ly swore out wiits of attachments at-tachments against the remains of the plane. Coombs then ran up, smelled Pfieffer's breath and took him to the police station where the police surgeon subjected the aviator to the customary "drunkenness tests." Pfieffer failed to pass the examination, examin-ation, it was charged. . STICKBP.5 i 2 t-3 -4 - -G -7 -8 r9 hio hit 12 A landlady has tjiree lodgers. Smith burns 2 inches of his candle each night.
