During the past year 21,260 persons per-sons have been added to your payroll In the. past five years the taxpayers tax-payers have had to support 44,197 extra persons who found places on the federal public payroll. "The Increase over the last five-year five-year period is due to the creation of new commissions, bureaus and n forth." the civil service commission com-mission explained. Commissions, bureaus and so forth have been created to deal with nearly every phase of Ameri can life. At tb n of the fiscal year. June 30, the federal government employed 608.915 persons. J Norton,, recorder. Sixty were registered for extension and correspondence cor-respondence woik and eleven were enroled in the 1923 sumnler school, according io these figures. The total resident collegiate enrollment en-rollment for the year 1929-30 was 3317. This number Included students stu-dents from 28 counties in Utah, 32 other states in the United States, Washington, D. C. Alaska, Phili-pine Phili-pine Islands, Hawaii and 11 foreign countries. The foreign students came from Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, (1UCA1V.U, U, Afc.JO -rwwa Africa. Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and California led the states in the number of resident students at the University of Utah. Birds are rarely sighted by at men flying at an altitude of 3000 feet.
