Show PROVO (UTAH) EVENING HERALD, FRIDAY, AUGUST 29, 1 93 0. ROWBS GREET 2 LINDBERGHS CURTISS-WRIGHT AIRPORT, CHICAGO. Aug:. 27. (HE) The arrival ar-rival of Charles A. Lindbergh, flying fly-ing with hia wife in their speed plane, today completed the roster of famous aviators attending the national air races. The low-wing racing plane which carried the famous flying couple across the country in record time a few weeks before the birth of their on this summer, flashed out of the haxe above the airport at 4:55 p.m. CST. It waa easily distinguished by Its brilliant orange wings and fclack fuselage. Sail Into View ' Lindbergh's appearance rewarded thousands of spectators who had been expecting him momentarily all week. He and Mrs Lindbergh left New Tork late yesterday and stopped stop-ped overnight at Columbus, O. Today To-day they came on to Chicago by way of Indianapolis where they were delayed by loss of their fuel through the accidental release of a safety valve. When the plane sailed into view It was about 5.000 feet up. Lindbergh Lind-bergh circled the airport, once and then brought his ship to a graceful landing at 2 p. m. The crowds in' the stands .had kept in a state of excitement for several days by the management's erroneous reports that "Lindy is coming today." When he finally aDpeared they stood up and shout- ei Lindbergh flew far the northwest, then turried anJ came back slowlv. before landing. He taxied across the field, turned, and with an automobile auto-mobile escort, moved across to tho southeast corner of the airport, , where he came to a stop amidst a group of 20 planes. Police could not keen the ero-w.'l off the field entirely, but they did prevent them from getting too close to the plane. Talking moving picture outfits, mounted on trucks, were in front ef the Foeakers stand. It was f-ound these trucks that mnt of the people gathered in the belief Lindbergh would be brought there.
