Show 8 Vernal Express Fridoy, September 9, 1983 Clubs Current Topic's Club to Celebrate 50th Year Current Topic's Club will celebrate their 50th year on Sept. 16 and 17. A special tea has been planned for the afternoon of Friday, Sept. 16 from 3 until 5:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. G.W. Gregory. Invitations have been sent to all former members and special guests. On Saturday evening, Sept. 17, the dab has planned an evening of special events for club members and their partners. UBMOTC Begins season The Uintah Basin Mothers of Twins . Club will start regular meetings again after the summer break. September's meeting was held on Wednesday, the seventh, at the hospital cafeteria. The October meeting will have a guest speaker, Janice Weinheimer, author of the book, "Families are Forever, If I can Just Get Through Today." To-day." She is the mother of two sets of twins, a set of triplets, and two singles. Be thinking of any questions you want ; to ask her. The UBMOTC would like to con-: con-: gratulate and welcome these new mother's to the world of being a mother of twins: Laloni Barton of Roosevelt, gave birth to twin boys, March 21 ; Julie Peterson had her boys on March 4; Susan Horracks had boy girl twins on May 24; Linda Parmeter gave birth to twin girls on July 19 and Linda Toone also had a boy girl twins on July 27. Preceptor Pi Pat Searle was the hostess for the first regular meeting of Preceptor Pi Chapter on Sept. 6. Seven members were present. President Evelyn Herbst presided over the business meeting. Pat Searle then presented a program "What do riches mean to you?" Dessert was served. The next meeting will be help Sept. 20 at the home of Doris Kindt. Beta Sigma Phi City Council Meets The Beta Sigma Phi City Council is comprised of representatives from each Chapter in Vernal. The duties of the council are to communicate, to correlate, to aid and to guide. The council promotes inter-city harmony and provides a means for chapters to correlate their activities and planning. The. Beta Sigma Phi City Council met Wed. Sept. 9 to discuss the traditional tradi-tional combined activities of the four chapters in Vernal. Council president, Carolyn Johnson, asked members to discuss with their chapters combining two more activities this year. These are the Preferential Tea and Fall Ritual. The next council meeting will be Sept. 20. University Women hold annual membership tea Westward Ho! Carnival Fun Time! Discovery Elementary will hold their annual Carnival on Sept. 30, 1983, from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the school. See western displays, join in the special western program with local talent, feed the family from the Grub Box, and let the kids have the time of their lives playing games and winning prizes. Win taie Sy Dwarfs The Uintah branch of the American Association of University Women held their annual membership tea the evening even-ing of Sept. 6 at the home of Garlyn Saupe in Vernal. Jane Loan from the Ogden branch of the American Association of University Univer-sity Women was the guest speaker. Her topic for the evening was "What AAUW has done for me.". Activities included a discussion for future AAUW projects and getting acquainted. Teresa Philips was chairperson of the tea with Sharon Rich assisting. Members attended from Roosevelt and Vernal. Special guests were Lydia Begay, Pat Bower, Shiryl Davis, Lynn Loetterle, Kathy Smith and Shirley Wilkins. Broadaway Gardner's celebrate 30 years of marriage Howard and Helen Broadaway, Ted and Margie Gardner recently celebrated their 30-year wedding anniversaries an-niversaries by taking a trip to Jackson Hole and to Cody, Wyoming. They spent a day with the Gardner's daughter's family, Kim and Randy Reynolds and son in Cody. Coy R. and Charlotte Hatch and son Mike, 16, and daughter Christi, 15, from Longmont, Colo, are the new family living in the Nate Jones home. Coy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hatch. James and Sandra (Hacking) Ely and daughter Delilah from Tacoma, Washington spent several days last week with Grant and Mildred Hacking also the Berkely Halls. Delilah is staying on in Provo to attend at-tend BYU. This is her freshman year. Chelsea Hall, 10 month old daughter of Velda and Evan Hall, spent two days in the Ashley Valley Medical Center after she nearly drowned in a bucket of water last week at her home. Velda reports she is at home now and triumphantly healthy. Her four brothers are also very glad to have her back from the hospital. Theo Lind had eye surgery in Salt Lake City recently. After she was released from the hospital she spent a week at the home of her son, Harley Morrison and family. Grace Hall spent 10 days in the Ashley Valley Medical Center recently. recent-ly. She is at home now doing really well. Greg and JaNae Morrison and four sons have moved to Layton, where Greg is now employed. Mrs. Beatrice Reese from Manila is spending a few days with her daughter Freda and John Parker and her four grand children. Pheobe Jane Merkley from Fruita is spending some time at her parents home, Morgan Merkley. Johnny and Eloise Parker and Nellie Allen spend Labor Day at Green Lakes Resort. There they enjoyed a trout dinner. din-ner. Howard and Helen Broadaway were also there for dinner.
