Mrs. Kent Anderson was charming hostess for the event. Decorations featured miniature snowmen and snowballs. Bridge was diversion, with prizes going to Mrs. Elmo Beers, Mrs. Emmett Murdock and Mrs. Basil Broadbent. Members ex changed gifts and revealed names of their "secret pals." Festive arrangements of holly were used in table decorations with other motifs of the season arranged throughout the foyer. Carlstmas bonus checks were presented pre-sented by J. Hamilton Calder, who was introduced by Alex. Hedquist. Victor J. Bird ad dressed the group. Dorothy Jones was in charge of arrangements and Bill Bowers presided as toastmaster for the following program: Solo, Shirl Beckstead, accompanied by Ruby Fife; solo, Betty Empey, accom panied by LaMar Empey and Efconna Mae Christensen; reading, Colleen Keeler; reading, Karl Steineckert. ' Riding. Club , Has Banquet? SPAWISH FORK The winter banquet of ..the Diamond Fork r:dins .-lub was held , this week at the social center, with partners of the men as guests. They were seated at tables decorated with red tapers and pine boughs. Favors were plastic horses branded with a diamond fork. Each guest was presented with a holly corsage. A program, with Bill Crump as master of ceremonies, began with pantomime numbers by the Diamond Fork amateur "band," while the real band was recorded offstage. Playing were .Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hill, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Hurst and Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Bradford. Mrs. Cal Nielsen gave an original orig-inal version of 'The Night Before Christmas." They were seated at long tables where a tiny Christmas tree formed the centerpiece. Favors were red stockings filled with candy. Mrs. Norman Barnes, president, took charge of the meeting and announced the guest on the pro gram, Ted Beckstrom, who read a three-act play. Color captains for the evening were Mrs. Gordon Olsen and Mrs. Milo Andrus. It -was decided that the January meeting would be cancelled in order to meet with the Jaycees at the Travel Trophy banquet scheduled for January 7, 1950, at the Fireman's hall. Openhouse s Planned HEBER Open house honoring Mr. and Mrs. William D. Johnston Johns-ton on their golden wedding anniversary, an-niversary, will be held in their home, 212 W. 1st N., from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 23. Mr. and Mrs. Johnston were married Dec. 25, 1899, in Heber. Mrs. Johnston was Charlotte Buys, daughter of , Edward and Celestia Bromley Buys. She was born Oct. 15, 1880, at Buysville. William Diamond Johnston is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Elof Johnston. He was' born April 11, 1879, in Salt Lake City and has spent most of his life in Heber, where he has worked as a blacksmith black-smith for, more than 35 years. Mr. and Mrs. Johnston have one daughter, Mrs. Opal J. Jordan of Heber, and two grandchildren, Glade E. Jordan of Nevada, and Mrs. Erva J. North of Danville, Cal. Friends and relatives are cordially cordi-ally invited to attend the open house and .the family has requested re-quested no gifts. Welsh Chorus Plans Event SPANISH FORK Plans to go Christmas caroling were made this week when the Welsh chorus met for a song practice at the home of Mrs. John S. Taylor. President David Jones con ducted the short meeting at which it was decided to visit people who are ill and unable to go out. They will sing on Christ mas eve between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. The group' enjoyed a party with refreshments and games.
