Reynolds Chapter One In Session Chapter number 1 of the Alice Louise Reynolds organization met last evening at the home of Mrs. Elsie Brockbank. Husbands of the members were present and at T:3C an appetizing luncheon was served from attractively arranged small tables. Airs. Annie Tanner gave an excellent ex-cellent review of the book "The Ravan" by Marquis James afte which the guests made happy the time with rook and bridge. Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Brockbank, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence tv Boyle. if. 1ft ifi American Music Theme Of Program "The Beginning of American Music" was the theme of the excellent ex-cellent program presented to members mem-bers of the Alice Louise Reynolds, organization chapter six, at the home of Mrs. Edith B. Cottam Thursday evening. Four splendid papers were given as follows: "What is American Music?" by Miss Grace Cheever; ' Who is an American composer?" by Mrs., Bessie Pope; "Our Beginning Be-ginning in Sacred Music" by Mrs. Chestina B. Larsen; "Music after the Revolution and beginning of nineteenth century music" by Mrs. Josephine Jones. Interspersed with the talks, correlating cor-relating music was pleasingly ren-dered."."The ren-dered."."The Soldier's Farewell", "Stars of Summer Night" and "Out Faith in Thee" were gyen as duets by Mrs. Melissa Williams and Mrs. Merle Hone, accompanied by Mrs. Zenith Johnson. Refreshments and social chat were also enjoyed. Present were: Mrs. Walter Adams, Mrs. Bessie Pope, Mrs. Ethelinda Alder, Mrs. Chestina B. Co-Worker Is Given Party The teachers of the Third ward junior Sunday school entertained Wednesday evening at the home of Miss Alice Taylor in honor of Mrs. Ray Dumell, formerly Miss Bertha Vogel. Under the direction of Miss Lucile Collins, progressive cootie was played and the honors went to Mrs. Dumell and La Fern Lea. A delicious luncheon and music were also enjoyed. From the following a beautiful gift was presented to Mfs. Durnell Alice Taylor, Maurine Dixon, Florence Flor-ence Jones, Ruby Dixon, Jennie Knudsen, Valera Dixon, Helen Dixon, Celia Larsen, Lila Menzies, Mrs. Carl Hendrickson, Virginia Kimball, Lucile Collins, Fay Brown Hortense Hopkins, LaFern Lea and Ruth, Knudsen. Installation Of Officers Held Pythian Sisters met at the K of P hall Thursday evening for the installation of officers. Cereals always are comparatively low-cost foods and can be used to advantage not only as breakfast dishes but also as substantial hot main dishes for supper or luncheon. lunch-eon. Such dishes are exceedingly desirable for children. Combined with cheese, ham or bacon, tomato toma-to in, some form, onions, peppers, outs and a goodly variety of seasonings, sea-sonings, they make savory concoctions concoc-tions that are easily prepared and nourishing as well as economical. Baked mush au gratin is a good example of a hearty cereal dish that is simple and inexpensive to make but of great food value. Baked Mush au Gratin Four cups boiling water, 1 cup cornmeal, 1 1-2 teaspoons salt, 1 cup grated cheese, paprika, tomato toma-to sauce. Add salt to boiling water and Blowly sift in cornmeal, stirring vigorously. Cook and stir until thick and smooth, stirring occasionally occa-sionally to prevent burning, for fifteen minutes longer. Turn into a loaf pan and let stand until cold and firm. Turn out and cut in half inch slices. Arrange in a buttered baking dish, sprinkle each slice with grated cheese, paprika and dots of butter and bake in a slow oven for twenty-five minutes. Serve with well seasoned tomato lauce. JBREAKKFAST: Calitornia, grapes, cereal, cream, plain omelet, cornmeal muffins, milk, coffee. LUNCHEON: Spanish rice, celery and apple salad, toasted toast-ed muffins, cup custards, milk tea. DINNER: Veal stew with dumplings, spinach timbales, cabbage and tomato salad, raisin rai-sin pie, milk, coffee. Spanish Rice One Bermuda onion. 2 tablespoons table-spoons butter or bacon fat, 2 green peppers. 1-2 cup brown rice, 2 cups canned tomatoes, 1 teaspoon tea-spoon salt. 1-4 teaspoon pepper. Melt butter or fat in frying pan and add onion and peppers finely minced. Cook five minutes. Add tomatoes. Sprinkle rice over top and season with salt and pepper. Cover frying pan and cook over a low fire for one hour. As soon as rice begins to absorb tomato juice watch and stir occasionally to prevent sticking and burning. Samp and Nuts One-naif cup samp, 1 tablespoon table-spoon butter, 1-2 teaspoon poultry poul-try seasoning, 1 cup broken nut meats. 1-2 cup cream, 1-2 teaspoon tea-spoon salt, 1-4 teaspoon pepper. Soak samp over night in cold water. Cook in boiling salted water until tender. Then add but-ter, but-ter, nuts and seasoning. Cook until un-til cream is absorbed and serve at once. Following bridge, dinner was served at a prettily appointed table, covers being laid for the honor guests, Miss Fay Dixon, Miss Alicebe'uh Whitely, Miss Necia King, Miss Helen Moir, Miss Ada Boren and the hostess. Mrs. Arthur Clyde is Hostess Thursday afternoon the members mem-bers of the Optimist club met as the guests of Mrs. Arthur Clyde and enjoyed a session of cards and luncheon. Five Hundred was played and the first prize was giyen to Mrs. W. A. Curl while the second favor was presented to Mrs. Mama Higgins. Luncheon Lunch-eon was served at the conclusion of the game.
