"Even though it's warm ' outside, we still have need of donations," said Laurie Brum-mond, Brum-mond, UBAOG director. "Our food pantries serve the hungry in three counties throughout the year, not just during the holidays." "All of the food donated is weighed and a small percentage is given back to help offset the cost of the donation," Brummond said. "Our clientele include so many people. It makes you feel good to know you can help somebody some-body in need." "People can donate food or cash to UBAOG's food pantries," pan-tries," explained Catherine Yack, UBAOG community services coordinator. "We also need toiletries toi-letries like the every day items that men, women and children need." "Compassion comes in all forms," Yack continued, explaining ex-plaining that even pet food is a welcome donation for the needy who must also care for their animals. "We can take fresh foods as well as canned goods, too," Brummond notes. "In summer, we ask local vegetable farmers to 'Grow-a-Row' for the pantry. Too many zucchini? Well, make a donation to the pantry." Numbers of people needing assistance don't just drop off in summer.
