A core sample was taken from either side of the bridge in four foot sections going down 50 feet. Andy Mair and Mark Young with Y2 Geotechnical in Layton are doing the drilling. It is slow going in this place as there is a lot of cobble rock. The drilling machine weighs 8,000 pounds. " L. Following the presentation, there will be a "star party" at Steinaker State Park at 9 p.m., with sky viewing for the public using powerful telescopes. On June 6 a thin crescent moon will follow the sun out of sight over the western horizon. If the night is clear, the stars should be vivid and bright in the darkness. Both presentations are free to the public. Wiggins has devoted his life to the study of the heavens. An asteroid was named after him, "Wiggins", in 1988, in recognition of his contributions to astronomy. His educational outreach program visits schools throughout Utah. "You get the usual jaw drop," Wiggins said of viewers' response seeing Saturn for the first time. "Then they say, it looks just like its picture." Wiggins said the most common com-mon questions he gets are, "Are we alone in the universe?" and "How does an astronaut go to the bathroom in space?" "I tell them, my personal opinion opin-ion not speaking for anyone else, is I think the universe is teeming with life," he responded. "However; I've been studying the sky for more than a quarter of a century, " Wiggins continued. "And I have yet to see anything in the sky that I can't explain." The second question has been asked so much that astronaut Bill Progue has written a book, " How Do You Go to the Bathroom in Space?" That topic has been discussed widely in the media in the last week as astronauts and cosmonauts cos-monauts deal with a problem with restroom facilities on the international space station. Andy Mair shows the size of the core sample that is sent in to For more information about engineers who will be working on the feasibility and engineering of Wiggins' upcoming visit, call a new brdQe across Ashley Creek at 1 500 East and 500 North. 789-3799. ,,IIIH..l.-,l,i I H.WJMWIfP . c ' v . - i f V Patrick Wiggins, NASA's ambassador to Utah, will speak at the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum and Steinaker State Park on June 6. h iti i itil'.idi '(I);!; I i I li i '' - i f.i i 1 i' - r .
