Basin sends 11 to USU Piano Eleven piano students from Vernal and Roosevelt participated partici-pated in the 37th Annual Utah State University Piano Festival Saturday, April 18 in Logan. Students gather from all areas of Utah and Idaho to participate in the day's competition. Uintah's students were very successful, bringing home 13 awards. Collin Peterson was a winner win-ner in the mini artist division. ..'"' ,bw s ----- I JUNIOR GIRL SCOUT AWARDS Amanda Gale and Michaela Donovan have earned the Bronze Award, the highestawardthataJuniorGirl Scout can earn. Amanda and Michaela both chose to make baby blankets to donate to the St. Martha's Guild in Salt Lake City. The girls are members of the Girl Scouts of Utah Troop 999 under the leadership of Mary Donovan and Heidi Hughes. ir i Jessica Beasley's penguin mother and child took third place in ceramics at the 16th Annual Uintah School District Art Departments Art Show at the Western Heritage Museum. Students displayed works of art in oils, watercolors, sketching, pottery, ceramics and sculpture. The exhibit will be open through walks, talks planned at Field House Wildflowers will be the topic of discussion this week at the Utah Field House of Natural History. Tom Elder will be presenting a wildflower talk featuring the slides of the late Tyrel Seager on Thursday, May 15. An avid botanist and wild-flower wild-flower expert, Seager spent many years photogr aphi ng wildflowers in and around the Uinta Basin. The talk will be at at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Field House.' On Friday and Saturday, the Field Mouse will host two wild-flower wild-flower walks. Participants will gather at the Utah Field House of Natural History located at 496 E. Main Street at 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday to car caravan up to Steinaker and Red Fleet state parks, finishing with a trip down the Dinosaur Trackway Trail featuring wildflowers, dinosaur tracks and spectacular views.
