Show Wednesday, Obituaries Edlean Abegglen Edlean Etta "Birdie" Abegglen Abeg-glen passed away Dec. 12, 2007 at her home in Vernal. She was born Aug. 23, 1922 in Roosevelt to Lawrence Ulrich Abegglen and Edlean Emily Clark Abegglen. She was the mother of four children, Ranee Searle, Sonja (Lon) Seeley, Rhett (Lola) Searle, Randy (Vickie) Searle. She is a grandmother to 1 1 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Fond memories of her childhood child-hood were spent growing up in Lapoint. She had a great love for her parents and always talked about what great examples they were. Mother mentioned often how no one was a stranger in their home, the door was always open and everyone felt welcome. She spent time in Washington, D.C., working for the FBI and then returned to Vernal working in the office at the Uintah and Ouray Indian Agency in Fort Duchesne before her marriage. Edlean is preceded in death by four sisters, Lena Mast, Alice Mott, Gladys Soderquist and Gwen Abegglen; three brothers, Larry Abegglen, Lewis Abegglen, and Bill Abegglen; one granddaughter, grand-daughter, Michelle Annette McNeil; Mc-Neil; and one grandson, Woodey B. Searle II. She is survived by two sisters, Verna Karren and Katherin Hauptfleisch; and one brother, Clark Boy Abegglen. Funeral Service was Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m. at the mortuary. mortu-ary. Viewing was Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Rockpoint Cemetery under the direction of Thomson-Blackburn Thomson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary after family says goodbye. A4 Gold Cross Ambulance will be conducting an EMT-Basic course. This course will run on Fridays, Saturdays and every other Thursday. Times will be from 5:30 p.m. until 1 0:00 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Course will begin on Friday, January 4, 2008 at the Gold Cross Ambulance Vernal Station located at: 220 West 100 South Vernal, Utah. X ' a'hri Mim .i.r f' 1 I J. ... , , , f .. i Dora North Our sweet mother, grandmother grand-mother and great-grandmother, Dora Hall Carroll North, passed away Dec. 18,2007inHeber.She was born Dec. 16, 1919,in Vernal to Iowa Jefferson and Mind-well Mind-well Adams Hall. She was the youngest of eight children. She married Veldon Carroll May 18, 1937 and they were the parents of four sons, one daughter and one stillborn son. They lived in Vernal; Arco, Idaho; and in Heber. Dora loved to play the piano and taught lessons les-sons for many years. She was in the Fun Band in Heber City. She served with the American Cancer Society in Vernal. After Veldon passed away on July 7, 1985, she married Fred North on Sept. 16, 1990 in Heber. Fred passed away Jan. 19, 1992. Her quick wit and blue twinkling twin-kling eyes will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Emmett, Roscoe and Miles; sisters, Lamar, La-mar, Marie, Reva and Mada; husbands, Veldon Carroll and Fred North. Survived by children, chil-dren, Clyde (Christine) Carroll, Denver, Colo.; Bruce (Joan) Carroll, Car-roll, Couer D'Alene, Idaho; Rhea (Scott) Santee, Lake Havasu, Ariz.; Lou (Karen) Carroll, Eagle Mountain; Ray (Diana) Carroll, West Valley City; and stepson, Ward (Jackie) North, Hemet, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family gives special thanks to Marge Allison for caring car-ing for Mom and the great staff at Sante Assisted Living Center. Funeral Services were Saturday, Sat-urday, Dec. 22, at 1 p.m. at the Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, 288 N. Main, in Heber. Viewing from noon to 1 p.m. Interment at the Vernal City Cemetery. Vernal Shelley Neil Stagg Shelley Neil Stagg was born on Feb. 18, 1948 in Vernal to John Derrell Stagg and Edith LaVee Oviatt. He was reunited with his parents on Thursday, Dec. 20, at 5:12 p.m. at the age of 59. He peacefully passed away at his home in Tooele surrounded by his family. Neil is survived by wife of 34 years, Flora Ann; and children, Aaron (Audra), Velynn (Jim Mat-son), Mat-son), Spencer (Cyntha), Rachelle (Steve Smith), Eli (Mickell), Andrew; An-drew; and nine grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, Terry, Derrell and Bert Stagg. Neil is an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was active in student government in high school. As an LDS missionary he served in the Pacific Northwest States mission. Neil and Flora Ann were married on Dec 21, 1973. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Provo LDS Temple. He was employed by the LDS church as a semi truck driver for welfare services. He had two passions in life. His first was to serve diligently in his many church callings and his second was his family. His viewing will be on Wednesday, Wednes-day, Dec. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tate Mortuary, 110 South Main, Tooele. Another viewing will be on Thursday, Dec. 27, prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at Tooele LDS Stake center on 253 South 200 East. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the Interment at the Tooele Cemetery. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us through these difficult dif-ficult times. We appreciate all your love and concern. Express Derek Dickson Derek Robert Dickson returned re-turned home to our Heavenly Father on Dec. 18, 2007. Derek was born in Vernal on Dec. 13, 1969 to Robert Kay and Karel Mae Dickson. He was one of seven children. He loVed growing up in a large family. Derek was blessed with many nieces and nephews who adored him. Derek was a cowboy at heart. He loved riding his horse with his dogs by his side and being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, paintballing and camping camp-ing with his friends and family. Derek loved playing Softball and watching football, especially the Denver Broncos. Derek wrestled wres-tled throughout his youth and was especially proud of being on the Uintah High School wrestling team where he had many accom- Guidelines for applying for boundary change requests, based on Uintah School District Policy 007.0115, are as follows: Applications for the 2008-2009 school year may be made prior to March 1 st. Before students are admitted from an out-of-boundary area, all signatures must be obtained on the boundary change form and all parties must be in agreement. Forms may be obtained at any school in Uintah School District or at the District Office, 635 West 200 South, Vernal. Submit the completed form to the Student Services Director at the school district office. Parents applying during this window will be notified in writing by March 3 1st of acceptance or rejection. Once enrolled, the student shall be permitted to remain enrolled in the school without filing renewal applications until the student moves up to another school. All decisions will be based on a first-come, first-serve policy, depending on class size, staff availability, and student conduct. The commitment to attend a non-resident district or school is for the full school year. Transfers are granted on an individual basis. Parents must make an application for each student as an enrollment guarantee for siblings is not implied. Special education students are treated the same as regular education students, on a case-by-case basis. If a student is in need of a special education program located in a school other than the one the student is assigned to, as determined by an IEP, then that need prevails. Transportation to and from the requested school is the responsibility of the parentguardian of the student, unless space is available on a bus without altering the bus route. He was a very thoughtful person and was always putting others before himself. His generosity and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
