The team traveled to the Wasatch Front to play back-to-back games. The first team they matched up with was the fourth-ranked Olympus Titans. They lost the game 3-0 then they faced up against South Davis, currently ranked first, and lost 8-0. Head Coach Mike Kitzmiller said the loss to Olympus could not be used to judge anything because bis team was short three starters. "We're pleased with how close we kept it, and that is probably because of KylerBowden'splay," he said. "This was the first time we had been on the ice this season and we got ended early." Bowden ended the game with 45 blocked shots. The JV matchup followed and ended in a 5-1 loss. Tyrel Holmes scored the only goal. "In the game against South Davis we got spanked," said Kitzmiller. The Utes ran into penalty trouble that hurt their chances of fighting a shut-out. "They took advantage of our inexperience on the ice," said Kitzmiller. "It was good though because we saw what a number one team looks like." . Their next game will be against the Copper hills Grizzlies , , who are tied for last place with " the Utes this year. Following the Copperhills game the Utes will face Park City. Kitzmiller hopes a win against the Grizzlies will propel them to a win against the,; ; Miners. Hockey propped to skate to victory Express Writer The hockey team from around the Basin hopes to finish in the top 10 again, said Head Coach Mike Kitzmiller. Hockey is not sanctioned by the Utah High School Athletics Association, and so the Vernal team is part of a club that is separated into divisions. They play schools that are as big as 5A and as small as 1A. Then every team is invited to attend the playoffs. "I want our team to end up in fourth place again," said Kitzmiller, Kitz-miller, "That would put us in a good position for the play-offs." He says for that to happen hap-pen they must overcome their inexperience. Their weakness may help them to focus on their greatest strength: "The concept . of teamwork," said Kitzmiller, "We don't have a bunch of elite players we have average and above average, with maybe one elite player. If we can work as a team then we can compete with anyone." Kitzmiller expects big things from seniors are Tyler Larsen, Craig Long andMarty Montgomery. "Larsen is a finesse player that is always fun to watch. Long is speed that can do just about anything. Marty is a crusher," he explained. On the defensive side of the puck Kitzmiller has high expectations expec-tations of Ethan Kitzmiller and junior Kyler Bowden. "Kylerkeptusinalotof games last year," he said. Along with Bowden the coach said to keep an eye on 'juniors Nemish Chadhuri and Aaron Hacking. His up and comers for the year are Justin Stearns and Andrew Shioatzki. The Utes have had some se-'" rious injuries early this season ? that could have a huge effect on. their season. However, the coach' '' said he does not have unrealistic ( hopes for his team. r "I want a fourth place finish-inourdivisionandatoplOfinisb'') finish-inourdivisionandatoplOfinisb'') overall," he said, "That is very " possible for this team." '- Most of the club teams have been playing since Septembers and a month has given them an " advantage in every area. Kitz-'" miller's team will have to work-! hard to overcome the advantage.'.' and reach their goals. Is being nice bad for your health? "OjbA n'-t'f -"i rip A recent study in the July found that married women who bottled up their feelings after af-ter an argument were four times as likely to experience declining health as women who expressed their feelings openly. " This reluctance to express emotions and communicate openly is referred to as "self-silencing," "self-silencing," and it has a devastating devas-tating effect on our physical and emotional health. In fact, self-silencing has been linked to depression, eating disorders, and heart disease. Despite these negative side effects, many couples still refrain from communicating honestly with their partner - particularly if the needed communication is anythingless than pleasant. Couples Cou-ples may fear expressing anger or sadness to their loved ones, as - it may come across as criticism or judgment. However, without this crucial candor, relationships suffer and emotions fester. So how can you communicate with your partner in a way that is kind but effective? Be Authentic. When couples argue, they tend to get caught up in the "who, what, when, and why" of the argument, rather than truly expressing what the argument really makes them feel. Instead, couples should be more descriptive of their feelings, because that's the crux of the issue. For instance, rather than "I can't believe you were late for dinner and didn't call me! This is just like last month when you insert past indiscretion here." Abetter way to truly express your real feelings feel-ings about your partner's lack of . . punctuality would be to say, "It ft,makes me.sad wheHSfflfWlate and I don't know where you are. I get worried and feel sick to my stomach." Fight to Love, Not to Win. If you get into an argument argu-ment with your spouse with the intention of proving how "right" you are, the argument will never be resolved. Instead, make love your goal during the dust-up. All couples fight, but there is a way to fight with harmony in mind. Insulting your partner, bringing up past fights, giving the silent treatment, or pretending like nothing is wrong are ineffective ways to solve an argument and merely add fuel to the fire. Keep It Sweet. Utah researchers found that marital arguing style has a correlation to couples' heart health.
