Show C2 Wednesday, June 27, 2007 Vernal Express Dinahland Triathlon attracts 150 athletes Express Writer The Dinahland Triathlon raced through town Saturday. Drew Wilkinson, the event's director, commented, "It went better than we had hoped Things really came together well for the event." He said 150 contestants raced. The overall winners for both the male and female divisions were given the majority of the prize money. The age group winners received $100 each. The elite racers were eligible only for the overall money. Wilkinson added that many of the intermediate inter-mediate racers expressed that they thought the race was well organized and would return next year. Wilkinson felt the biggest surprise was a top 25 finish by Ben Daniels, who competed in the under 17 male short race. However, Wilkinson said that . a $ V; '"m Justin Spence was the only 1 8- to 20-year-old participant to race in the intermediate division. Photo by Digipix Studios. he was impressed by every racer who finished. "We developed the course to be very difficult. One of the pro racers, who has done triathlon throughout most his life, expressed that it was the most difficult triathlon he had ever been involved with." Next year the tournament hopes to have a kids' race. Wilkinson Wilkin-son added, "We are very grateful for all the community support."
