Management of Waste, Earthwork, and Reclamation of Oil and Evaporation Pits at the Former Navanick Oil Disposal Facility. In October 2004, the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA), the U.S. Environmental Wednesday, April 20, 2005 A5 Protection Agency (EPA), and the Ute Indian Tribe removed non-waste and waste material from the former Navanick Oil Disposal facility (also known as the EagleHawk Oil Disposal facility) located on the Uintah and Ouray Indian Reservation in Duchesne County, Utah. Non-waste material mate-rial included scrap metal and miscellaneous abandoned aban-doned equipment and debris that could be removed without first being cleaned of residual oily wastes. Waste material mate-rial included a metal tank that required removal and off-site disposal of residual oily wastes before it could be dismantled dis-mantled and removed as scrap material. The Ute Indian Tribe is now accepting bids for management of oily sludge, earthwork, and reclamation of oil and evaporation pits at the former Navanick facility. facil-ity. The work will likely occur in late June 2005.
